And I need to stay under $900 Canadian for the 2 of them.. It is for their 35th wedding anniversary and we were thinking a cruise, but it seems so short to keep within our budget..there is 3 of us kids going in on this and we this is all we can afford.. I have heard that Cuba is reasonable, but I am just looking for ideas here.. my Mother In Law would LOVE to go to Disney.. but Father In law.. :confused3 for some reason he just does not like it. Since this is for both of them I need to stick to something they would both like.
Any thoughts you can throw out.. they have no problem driving to get to somewhere, and We are giving them this for Christmas and they will be leaving (we hope) in January
Thanks in advance of any help you can give me

What does the 900.00 have to cover? If it is covering everything you may be hard pressed to find somewhere.

Hi, can the in-laws afford a month away from home? What about renting them a condo in Panama City or St.Petersburg for the month of January. I'm sure they would enjoy the heat more than the snow for a month.

Just my thoughts.

Yes that is $900 total.. I know on RC cruises I can get them a 3 day cruise. But it is only 3 days.. so not much of a treat there.
I LIKE the idea of renting a house for a month! I think that it is something they would LOVE. They are both retired so that is a great suggestion!

my mom and dad spent 6 weeks in and around St. Augustine...they took their George Foreman grill with them, and stayed in a week in a "mom and pop" motel/kitchenette. If they couldn't find a kitchenette, they had one of those plug in coolers for the car that they used. We teased them about their "one step above camping trip":)Didn't even have a phone in their rooms, no pool, and mom took their own linens, but they were clean, and most were a block or two from the beach.

Most weeks, they paid less than $160/week for accomodations..this was in January, and the first two weeks of February. They spent the last two weeks of Feb driving home to NB, and as mom said, they spent more on those two weeks than the total 6 weeks in Fla!! LOL

...and they had a wonderful time:) What a wonderful Christmas gift for your parents:)

I know she loves the Florida Keys.. I am searching that now.. WOW they are $$$.. I think that renting a condo is a great idea! better keep searching for a better price tho!

is that it's further south and Snowbirds head there for the warm temps...driving the $$$ up:) Going north drops the accomodation $ lower...but of course, it's colder!:)

Are you checking sites like www.vrbo.com or www.rentalo.com ? Let us know what you find..and don't forget about the "mini-home" and RV rental market:)

HTH!!

internal service error? But $650 for a condo in the Keys sounds pretty good:)

Here's a bunch more for Port Charlotte too:)

Some look like they're as low as $500/week. When you email the owner, ask what kind of discount they could give for 2 weeks or longer, or "odd start days" (if someone is checking out on a Wednesday, and then your parents could have 10 days for the price of a week, idea:))

You just never know what someone would be willing to rent for until you ask. Ask nicely, but still ask:) and let them know it's a gift for your parents, too:)

Wow! 6 weeks in St. Augustine. I'm envious.

Back on topic, in January, the Keys probably a better bet weather wise than somewhere closer to our beloved mouse. From what I've seen, they're beautiful.

Kungaloosh!

here's another one:)

I was looking at properties in Clermont...the price sure is right:) The amenities may not be what your parents would like though...

Just thought I should pass it along:)

That is really pretty .. and the price!!! that is excellent.. I was aiming to have them stay on or near the ocean or the gulf, my FIL has a sailboat that he can use in the water, this one says that it is near a lake, I will have to find out where and how big the lake is.
THANKS!
