Hey guys!!!! I am looking for some tips!
My father bought me this 4/3 night package to summerbay resorts....Me,My husband and my six year old will be going..... I have to attend a 90 minute presentation :guilty: ...However, I read in trip advisor that they can last three hours long....(shoot! me) :sad2: ......have any of you attended a timeshare presentation and what is the eastiest way to cut it short. I have no plans to buy one and there is no way I can....I just really want to go to disney and I can not afford another hotel, especially this time of year.......So I have too sacrifice and listen to the sales people...I was thinking of taking my six year old and telling him beforehand to be annoying. So they can let us go. Any other tips!!!!
Please!!!! I need all the advice I can get.....
thank you....:thumbsup2

Just stick to your guns. Don't ever use the words "maybe" or "we'll think about it" to try and get out quicker...because that will just make them bring the pressure more. They will try to tell you that this price is only good if you buy then and there and blah blah blah. Also once it has reached the 90 minutes you agreed to then you no longer have to stay. You have then fulfilled your commitment so they can't keep you any longer than that. Just stay stubborn...and of course having your son get antsy won't hurt either :lmao: Good luck and Have fun!!!

You could pretend that you are going to throw up (be sick). That might make them keen for you to leave.

Hi, we have done this a couple of times and remember that you can get through just about anything if you know it will come to end soon.

My little piece of advice to be absolutely honest and tell the person this was a gift and we absolutely will not buy but will enjoy the 90 minutes. Kind of size up your saleperson. I always reminded myself they are somebody's son or daughter and maybe even a mom or dad, so they are not evil, just trying to make a living.
If they get it and just show you around be pleasant and tell them you need to be done at X time. If they are a stinker remind them you need to go at X time and we have 20 minutes left.
I hope you get a nice one...they are out there because we have had them. I have always wondered what it must be like to be dreaded by 80% of your clients. My guess is sales are way down so the sales meetings are filled with stress and gloom...

Enjoy...you will make it and your resort is a very nice one...Grandpa Ted

remember the breakfast or lunch is not part of your time.

so tell them you want the sale pitch to began immediately.

don't let them make you feel guilty. You don't want to buy there and you would not have made the reservation.

if this is an owner recommendation - you might get lucky. Lots of sales people don't want to mess with ones who know they aren't going to buy.

let him/her know that you know that Florida has a 10-day look before you are under contract.

you don't want it and don't let anyone talk you into buying.

they will try to wear you down - don't let it happen.... your right to say NO and timeshare salespeople have a hard time hearding it. so repeat as necessary.

Just don't try anything like simply disappearing from your tour. If you received any kind of compensation in exchange for the tour presentation, such as discounted accommodations or attraction tickets, you could very likely end up paying full price if you don't live up to your end of the contract.

So read up on your literature to know exactly what you have to do, where you have to go, and how long you are obligated to be there. So long as you meet your obligations, you should be fine. Look on the bright side, you say there is no way you can afford to buy. If they find your income is too low, you probably won't be allowed to tour anyway and you may be off the hook before you get started.

I think the best tip I've read here is that you need to tell them "ok, my time starts now." A lot of places will say the eating or the shuttle or whatever was not part of your three hours.

And, as the tour is a requirement to get the special package price for your lodging, the resort requires you to pay full list cost if you don't finish the tour and presentation. Be sure that the salesperson or sales manager is in agreement that the presentation is over when you leave.

Two things on this...
The various timeshare resorts usually follow the law regarding what is included in the presentation time. Regardless of what you tell the salesperson that you want unless they agree to your request they're not under obligation to shorten your time. My suggestion is to eat before you go, tell the salesperson that you've eaten and are not interested in the buffet meal. Ask them if you can go right to the presentation phase.
Secondly, however they treat your request, please be aware that under Florida state law a timeshare tour and presentation is limited to 90 minutes unless the prospective purchaser agrees to have the time extended. Grandpa Ted's suggestion that you keep track of the time is an excellent one.

Arrange to have someone call your cellphone during the one on one with the salesman. Look at your phone and say "Excuse me, I really need to take this call. It's from my Bankruptcy Attorney." :rotfl2: Just kidding.

thank you for all your tips, my trip is on thursday!!! so wish me luck. I will not have this ruin my magical trip

When we did the tours we always booked the earliest possible time. That way when they saw we weren't interested - they wanted us out so they were available for the next customer. Also upon meeting our time share rep I'd be up front and let them know that we had plans, lunch, meeting at a specific time. We used this procedure two or three times - years ago - and it worked for us.

If they find your income is too low, you probably won't be allowed to tour anyway and you may be off the hook before you get started.

Don't use this. Many have income requirements, if you don't qualify on income; you usually are not eligible for the TS tour and incentives. Just because you don't tour because your imcome is too low, doesn't mean you are off the hook. They could charge you full freight.
Don't tell them your income or anything like that. They only need to know that if you are planning to buy and need to finance.
