We will be traveling to The World in June 2012. We will be driving from Texas. We plan on driving to Tallahasse in one day, staying the night there, and making the 4 hr trip into WDW the next morning.

The last time we went to WDW, there were no children involved and we flew, so it narrowed our "getting around the world" options to busses or taxi. Easy enough. (And just for the record DH and I have both outgrown our temper tantrums and meltdowns...for the most part :rotfl:)

This time, we will have our 2 y/o (and stroller!) in tow and will have our car with us. I have heard so many mixed opinions about driving vs. busses with little ones and really just want some opinions or tips anyone can share.

We will be staying at POR. We discussed requesting a building closer to the main bus depot (we know about the smaller ones scattered on the outskirts of the resort but had terrible luck catching busses there on our last trip). We have also discussed not worrying about being close to the depot, because we will be close to our car. LOL. Having said that, I know NOTHING about getting around in Disney and NOTHING about parking "situations." Crowds, traffic, travel time, convience...all that good stuff. I'm a newbie when it comes to all this info! You experienced people help me out here :thumbsup2 THANKS!

I personally think it will be much easier just using your car. Driving around Disney is not difficult and you can always find a place to park.

We have a 2 year old that has been with us a few times. From personal experience I can say we have had a car and used the busses with her. At 2 it is not as imperative that I drive her around in the car, she is older, more mature and easier to manage in some respect than when she was yonger. I will say that the car certainly is convenient to have to zip in and out of the parks and go where and when you want. As she has gotten older I will say that the advantage of having a car has shrunk, with having only one kid if the bus is crowded she is easily held by her mom while I get to hold everything else...

Driving is a very personal choice as I am sure you have read in many posts here. We are in the driving camp. I have only been on a Disney bus once and that was more than enough for us. We just like the freedom and quickness involved with having our on car. However some see it as a real draw back and would rather have some else do the driving while they are on vacation. I think time is the key for us. Even staying on a monorail resport we will drive to EPCOT simply because it is faster. It has taken us 30-35 minutes from CR to EPCOT via monorail. On a RD morning we drove and it took us 15 minutes from the resort to standing in line at the gates. Now for some the extra 15-20 minutes doesn't make a difference, we just prefer the time a car saves. We also visit many of the other resorts and have ADRs at many different places. It is nice not to have to allow an hour or more for travel. We can make it everywhere in 15 minutes or so.

Driving in Disney is pretty easy and there isn't too much traffic. We haven't ever run into a traffic jam or been backed up anywhere. Although others may have had a different experience.

With that being said it is an additional cost and that some may not want to incur. For us the cost is well worth the convienence we get in exchange.

Enjoy your trip!!
