Help, We are staying at POP for two weeks. Its me, hubby ds5 dd 9 and ds 18 mos in crib. I know these rooms are small so I need lots of tips on how to keep it from getting all cluttered up with our stuff every where, especially the bathroom sink. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I have read on here people use shoe hangers on the door to hold the toiletries. A trick I use is to move the beds so that 1 is against the wall, it givers you just a bit more floor room for the kids to play. I can't wait to see what others psot.

Shoe or small pocket holders from the dollar store work nicely to store toiletries. I also bring shoe holders to keep shoes together. Especially when you have an open closet it just keeps things more together.

First of all, I am so jealous you are staying 2 weeks in Disney!!! We also stay @ Pop. We always take an 18gal tote to keep all of our snacks in and out of the way. The TV stand has a lot of counter space too. The bathrooms are not big so we just try to keep it organized the whole week. I have the hanging toiletry bag that I keep a lot of items in and keep it hanging on the towel bar in the bath area. Good luck and have fun!!!

We just came back from a nine night trip (which I thought was long, 2 weeks, WOW!) and stayed at the Poly. Here is what I did to stay organized.

*I unpacked and put clothes in the drawers(I never do this) and used the suitcases for dirty laundry. Kept a plastic bag in the closet with laundry detergent, dryer sheets, stain remover and quarters. On laundry day just rolled the suitcase and plastic bag to laundry room.

*We didn't use cash. On past trips dh would empty his pockets at night and there would be a mountain of change and receipts. This trip we charged everything to the room and I had a envelope in the fanny pack to store receipts.

*designated an area (under armoire) for everyone's shoes.

*kept a beach bag in the closet packed with goggle, swimmies, books, lotion, towels. Made it easy to grab the bag and go to the pool, and everyone knew where everything was.

*kept a shoe bag in the bathroom for toiletires. Also left a small suitcase under the sink area for the larger bath items, my hairdryer, moisturizer, coldcream, makeup, etc.

*brought clothes pins and hangers. Hung up wet suits with pins and our towels in the closet with hangers (I like to bring our own beach towels)

*lastly, I bought a cheap id holder at Walmart (.97) that I put the room keys in (I had my tickets from Ticketmania transferred to the room key - this way only 1 card per family member). This eliminated looking for the keys each day and if anyone needed a room key, we knew where to find them. Left the lanyard on the closet handle, easy to find.

Those are my organizing tips, have a great time!

Jsut so you know, you cannot move the beds at the POP. :guilty:

I agree with designating a specific spot for dirty laundry (we did the suitcase thing too) Also, all shoes went under the table. There are actually a decent amount of drawers/shelves to unpack onto. We used the top of the TV cabinet/armoire for our snacks and had plenty of room. Don;t forget to ask for extra hangers from Mousekeeping so you can hang up all of the adult clothes (we had myself DH and DD6 and DD3). We asked for 15 hangers the first day and they brought them up in a few minutes without question.

Yes the rooms are small but we would stay there again based on our experience. :cheer2:

We always do the shoe bag for toiletries. I also bring a little basket to put shoes in and keep by the door. For us under bed things would get lost-shoved pushed around.
I have a collapsable laundry basket-square for dirty clothes.

I also keep a "beach" bag for pool so it is ready-with some reading material for me.

Get a small styrofoam cooler to put drinks and yogurts.

have a great trip

One thing we always do is pack the kids outfits in ziploc bags. We put shorts,t-shirts, undies and socks in each bag. Add a few swim suits/hats and a sweater/sweatshirt and each kid is done!!! This helps when getting ready in the morning too as I just tell them to grab a bag out of their drawer and get dressed!!!

We have done this for 2 cruises and 2 trips to WDW and now my kids pack this way when they go to camp..DD(12) for a month and DD(8) for one week!!!

We use the shoe holder, a colapsible hamper under the sink, put our sancks on the top of the entertainment center, and everyone has a designated spot to keep all of their "stuff".

I also made a soft fabric basket that I can put my change and receipts in when I clean out my pockets at night.

We stayed 10 nights at Movies last year and we leave IN 3 DAYS! for 10 nights at POP!

Shoes all have to be in one place near door.
I also pack with ziploc bags for each kid for each day...little expensive...but valuable time saver. Kids would just pull out the bag for that date and all their clothes were in there.
Dirty laundry into suitcase which rolled down to laundry room easily. Any toys or soveniers they purchased had to be stored in their dresser drawer or in their own suitcase when not being played with.
We were hardly ever IN our room...that makes it easier too!

I use the shoe bag idea also. I also ask for all the pants hangers from Walmart I can get when I go just before the trip I bring at least 10. 1 for each bathing suit and 1 for the watershoes I can then hang in the bathroom or closet. When I brought my DS6 for a mom and me trip. I brought his closet sweater holder and put his clothes in it for each day. I do this once a week at home so he is used to going to this for clothes to dress. You could put one days clothes in each shelf for each child the night before. It folds down to almost nothing.

The suitcase as the laundry only works if you keep the suitcase out. I bring along a folding laundry basket I bought at the local market. It has 3 separate areas so clothes are presorted. I when one is full I bring with me to the pool and just do that load. Each part holds 1 load of clothes. I stuff the suitcases in each other over in the corner between the bed and wall. They wouldnt fit under the bed :(

The recycle trash barrel (when washed out) makes a wonderful cooler for milk, juice and soda.

Dont forget to pack an extra carryon bag for all the extra stuff you purchase. Or you can always buy one of the Disney bags and give as a gift to that wonderful person who watched your house, took care of the pets or took in your mail. I had a neighbor volunteer to watch the cats and house just so I would get her this bag LOL

I read on the DCL board about using suction cups in the bathroom to help dry swimsuits, clothes etc and it worked well for us on our list trip, plus takes up little room in the suitcase.

Good luck!

We always take the over-the-door shoe organizer for toiletries. Works great. We also unpack immediately upon arrival, consolidate suitcases as much as possible (put smaller suitcases and/or shoulder bags in larger suitcases) for easier storage, designate certain drawers for certain family members so the kids, or DH for that matter, don't ransack everything trying to get to their items. I use the nightstand drawer for small items such as books, papers, receipts, loose change, sometimes even socks or undies if necessary.

I always toss in some tall kitchen trash bags with the drawstring top. They work great as laundry bags. You can even divide them into categories (dark, white, etc.) before you go down to do you wash. If you are not going to do wash - you can still divide them up to make it easier when you go home.

Everyone's ideas are great!

We are a family of 5 so keeping the room organized for this trip will be hard on us being that it is the first time all 5 of us will be in one room:

*We unpack all of the suitcases into the dressers and use one of the large suitcases for dirty laundry to either pack to bring home or to wash during our stay (depending on how long we are there). I bring a large ziploc bag full of quarters, travel size laundry detergent and dryer sheets to use just in case regardless.

* We always pack a collapsible extra duffel bag for suveniors and use it to hold the extra toys, etc we buy during the stay.

* We use the shoe organizer for over the door in the bathroom to hold all of the toiletries and suction hooks in the shower to hang wet bathing suits

* We buy a netted beach bag from Walmart to keep all pool toys, goggles, vests, etc in to grab and go with

* We bring large envelopes to hold receipts and pack up pictures we buy. And We bring baggies and large bags to hold change and small loose items as well as in the bag for the parks to hold anything wet from the parks and to seal dirty diapers.

*We bring a cooler to hold milk, juice and water and some cold snacks like fruit and yogurt for the kids and unpack it into the little fridge in the room (if one is there depending on resort) then use the cooler for water in the park. We bring a walmart bag with other snacks like chips, cereal, granola bars, etc to put on top of the entertainment center as well as napkins and LOTS of baby wipes!

*We keep the park bag/backpack hanging on the folded up stroller near the door. It is refilled as soon as we re-enter the room so that it is ready to go when we are.

Here's what I did:

1. Put suncreen, flip flops, hairspray, etc. in over the door shoe organizer.
2. Brought about 4 shallow plastic baskets, to organize makeup, keys and passes, etc.
3. Bought a clear plastic toothbrush holder (not a travel one - like one for your bathroom) for the toothbrushes. (under $1 at Walmart)
4. Asked mousekeeping for extra hangers...the skirt hangers are great for hanging wet things. Also brought a few wire hangers from home.
5. Brought a pop-up hamper and kept it in the closet for dirty clothes.
6. Brought a pop-up cube as the "park basket." Every day, fanny packs, mouse ears, rain ponchos, etc. went in there.
7. Brought a beach bag and kept goggles and a few snacks in there.

I really like an organized room and I must admit that I was pleased with my efforts!

I have a hanging toiletry bag (much like this one but a lot cheaper!) that would come in handy for keeping toiletries away from the sink area.
