I am so excited - I finally managed to get the Yacht Club for all four days of our trip next week!!  I have been trying nearly every day for two weeks and had to cancel three different "back up" reservations at hotels I did not want to stay at. :D

Anyway, I've never stayed at the Yacht Club before, so I need the scoop! I know the general theme, but is there something I should be looking for in terms of requesting a room? I'll be using an ECV and plan on mostly scooting over to Epcot and using the monorail or using the boat to get to MGM. This will be my very first Disney trip without a rental car. Anything in particular I should bring? How much is a fridge rental? Or do those come with the rooms? Any info appreciated! :cloud9:

YC/BC - ask for a 1st floor room - easier to get around.
Ask for a Handicapped bathroom if you feel the extra bars on the wall will help you.

Boats/Buses/Monorails can handle ECV.

Small refigerators now come with deluxe rooms. If you do not get one- just ask for one.

The rooms are wonderful. You could always ask for a water view and see if they bump you to a better room view.

If you need ANYTHING - just call the front desk. Deluxe resorts have a way of getting you what you need.

I think you also get a weekday newspaper to read in the AM.

enjoy !

Hi Pooh, thanks for the tips!! So if I am staying in a "standard" room at YC is it still considered a deluxe room since I'm at a deluxe resort? And I might actually get to enjoy my usual cold Diet Dew???? :)

Here's a link to a slightly outdated, but really great floor layout of the YC. Do you have a garden or water view room booked? If you have garden, based on your needs, I would also put in a request for ground floor, close to the lobby. If you have a standard view, take anything that doesn't overlook the front of the hotel. You'll have a not so nice view of the parking lot. If you do need a handicapped room guaranteed, you might want to call the special services number and have them note your requests at (407) 939-7807. Here's a nice section that has more information on mobility issues, special services.

I'd describe the refrigerator as dorm room size. There is a new area called the Marketplace over on the BC side. You might want to check them out for purchasing the Diet Dews (I love those also). The bedding at the YC is super soft and so comfortable. I think they recently installed those nice pillow top mattresses. All I know, is that I usually have problems sleeping in a different bed, but these were incredible.

If you're looking for a quick cup of coffee or juice in the morning, they have an area right off the lobby to grab a quick continental breakfast. I think you're going to be quite happy with the YC. It's a beautiful resort and the proximity to Epcot and MGM just can't be beat.

And yes, standard is standard even at a deluxe resort. Some of them do offer deluxe rooms which are slightly bigger than a standard.

I stayed at the YClast summer and I loved it! On of my favorite things to do was grab a croissant and a latte from the little cafe in the lobby and go outside and sit by the lake while I ate.

If you have a standard room request on your reservation:

garden view/lake side

This may help you receive a nonparking lot view. We actually were upgraded from a standard room to a waterview room. See my link below for some photos. We had a 1st floor room and it was absolutely wonderful! You will love the YC. We certainly all did.

I tried to do this and was told by 2 different CMs that the computer "would not accept" a garden view/lake side request. I was actually told I could request standard (translate to parking lot) or garden view for the same price and upgrade to waterview for an additional $70 per night! Go figure. :confused3

Hmm...that's strange. I had no problem requesting this on my reservation and actually saw it on paper when I received the confirmation. You are not requesting a waterview. You are just requesting to be on the lake side of the building. There is a difference and there are standard rooms on that side. Sorry.
