I would like to take my kids to Cali for spring break but here is the problem. We don't have a lot of money and my husband does not want to do things we have all ready done. My kids are 15,14,10,and 5. We have already been to Great America, Disneyland multiple times, Legoland, and Seaworld. I know that those who are from Cali can help me with a great week of things to do with my family..... All input is helpful!

San Diego Wild Animal Park- great for all ages, do the mini hot air balloon ride. Visit Balboa park in San Diego, go to walk along the beach at the Hotel Coronado.

Catalina Island- ride the ferry over, explore the island and get ice cream or stay overnight.

Monterey- do the aquarium, walk around town, go to some beaches

San Francisco- lots of things to do, shows, golden gate park, pier 39 etc.

Lake Tahoe- river raft down the truckee river, go on a hike, enjoy the beaches

Yosemite- enjoy the views, go for a hike, go to the little museums in the valley, take in the fresh air, see the giant trees in Mariposa Grove.

...there is so much to do/see in California, you have a lot of options, look around for what sounds fun to you!

If you want to come down to San Diego, I would also recommend all the museums in Balboa Park (there is alot to do there), ferry ride to Corornado, Coronado itself, Seaport Village area, a Harbor Excursion or whale watching cruise, and of course there is always the beach!

Is it warm enough to camp during the last week of March for camping. It seems too cold! I don't know what the weather is like then....

I don't know if this is too late for you since you asked this last week but we've done a number of trips to southern california when we had little money.

We always seem to check out Seaport Village- mostly shops but it's right there by the harbor so we walk to that and look at all the ships. The Midway is right there!

The San Diego Zoo isn't too expensive if you can get coupons.

We always take the ferry to Coronado, get off, walk around a bit and get some ice cream and then take it back. Very cheap way to get a boat ride!

Point Loma Lighthouse- beautiful ride up there, some great history to read about and then there's a tide pool in that same area as well that you can check out. Not sure how much it is to get in but it's by the car.

Old Town- lovely shops with live mariachi music playing. Several mexican food restaurants and then the old town jail, general store, doctors office etc. We love to eat a meal there before we head home. We also let our kids pick out some candy from the candy shop.

We went to see the sea lions at the beach in La Jolla. I can't remember the name of it but its a lot of fun.

In carlsbad the strawberry field is opening April 1st, I think. You pick your own. We had a blast doing that a few years ago. Right next to Legoland.

There is so much do and see without you breaking the bank. Hope that helps some. Good luck!
