We always take a week vacation (7-10 days with travel) with family and starting to think about next year. Thinking about trying DL next year, but looking for ideas on things to do in addition to the parks since the parks aren't going to keep us occupied for a week (or will it). Everyone will be 18+ , needs to be wheelchair accessible, and not involve sitting on a beach all day. Thanks for any suggestions!

I would be able to spend a week at Disneyland easily, but not everyone likes to do that.

There are nice beaches not too far from Disneyland.

Here are some other ideas. You'll need a car to get to these places and traffic can be pretty bad.

Long Beach:

Aquarium of the pacific
Visit the Queen Mary (Historic cruise ship.)

Places to visit around LA:

Universal Studios
La Brea Tar Pits
LACMA (art museum)
Griffith Observatory

San Diego area:

San Diego Zoo
Sea World
Legoland

We are spending about a week there next month. Arrival day, OBB day, 3 park days, and then leaving day. 6 days for the full trip. I agree most people will either go up to LA or down to San Diego if they want more activities than just DLR.

I would spend 4 nights in LA area and 4 nights in Anaheim. Favorites for non-Disney attractions are the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, The Grove, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. We stayed at the AC Hotel Beverly Hills on Wilshire (it’s not actually in Beverly Hills, that’s just the name of the hotel). We found it very convenient to get to all the main attractions we wanted to see. Happy planning!

Have you been to southern California before? If so, what have you already seen?

The Griffith Park Observatory is interesting and has great views of the city and the Hollywood sign. There is handicapped parking but it tends to fill early. If it is full, I believe you can drop someone off before finding parking. If you are looking for a studio tour, Warner Brother's studio is just north of the Observatory.

In Los Angeles, at Wilshire and Fairfax you'll find the Peterson Automotive Museum, Academy of Motion Pictures Museum, LACMA and the La Brea Tar Pits. All are handicapped accessible. A mile up Fairfax is the Original Farmer's Market and The Grove.

Do any of those sound interesting to your group?
