Need some tips for LAX passenger pick-up

Our party of 7 is arriving on two different days in August. DD and I will arrive on a Friday, pick up the mini-van, drive out to Palm Springs and spend the night with relatives.

The next day - Saturday - we'll drive back into LAX and pick up the other 5 (3 adults and 2 kids) who arrive around noon. And from there we'll drive to our hotel close to DL.

So, what's the best way to go about doing this? Is it best to park the van, walk into the airport and meet our party down at baggage claim? Or is there a cellphone waiting lot where we can wait, and then just drive up and pick them up? What's the least amount of hassle? Is parking expensive?

Yowser! I'm assuming you are aware that it's more than two hours from LAX to Palm Springs?? That is a long roundtrip just to stay the night :-/

Absolutely! It's a small trip to get the opportunity to see some relatives I haven't seen in quite some time. Family - it's a GOOD thing! LOL.

Thanks for the map of the parking / cellphone lot at LAX. Is it fairly well marked how to GET to the cellphone lot, and from there to the specific terminal? I will have my Garmin along on the trip.
