Hey all!

So here's the deal: I've decided to take my two young cousins (one boy, one girl; ages 8 and 6) to WDW for a week at the end of August. I'm trying to decide on where to stay. My first choice would be Animal Kingdom Lodge as I stayed there for the first time this past February and absolutely fell in love with the resort.

Even though I loved AKL, I would really love to stay a "new" resort, but I don't know which the kids would enjoy? Are there any other Resorts that children that age might enjoy? Any of the three on the Monorail loop are a little out of my budget. I was thinking of possibly even the Caribbean Beach Resort...

This is probably the only chance these kids are going to have to visit WDW, and I want them to have an absolutely amazing time.

Any suggestions/info would be greatly appreciated!

Let me say I don't think you can pick a bad one. We like ASMo because of the variety of food to eat at the food court, the huge Disney Icons everywhere the kids love, and when we stayed we requested the Toy Story section and there was nothing better than going into Andy's door to get to your room. Of the three moderates I would pick CBR even though we haven't stayed there, but they do have the pirate and princess rooms but I don't know how you would go about choosing. :confused3 But even with any room the resort looks gorgeous, I've read the food choice is good, and there is a slide at the pool and plenty of extra activities to choose from. Just to throw out a couple more you might want to research is Wilderness Lodge and Ft Wilderness Cabins. Hope you guys have a great time and what a great Uncle you are! :thumbsup2

It's been awhile since we've stayed at CBR (2002), but we loved it. Our boys were 7 & 9 at the time and they had a blast in the pool (which has since been redone). The food court was great with alot of variety and the bus transportation was awesome. CBR is centrally located and it didn't take more than about 10 minutes to get to any theme park, water park, or DTD. There are 4 or 5 internal bus stops, but other than that, there is no sharing with any other resort. I think CBR would be a great choice :thumbsup2.

I agree that I don't think you can pick wrongly! I think they will have a good time wherever you stay! My daughter's favorite part of the last trip was the hotel! We stayed at POP and she loved the pool!

I wish I had you as a cousin when I was a kid.:worship:

Our favourite is the Poly but for a resort with the same price as AKL how about WL?

If you want to save a bit of money how about a Pirate room at CBR?

I am sure your cousins will enjoy any of the fabulous Disney resorts. They are at WDW.

I have taken extended family members to WDW before we have stayed at POR SSR and Kadini with them. They all agree each was awsome however POR is the overall winner. POR highlights, the water taxi to DTD great at night, bikes and horse carriage rides. The gem is Piano Bob. The best thing about POR is the grounds and themeing.

I would suggest the Port Orleans Riverside OR French Quarter Resorts. My kids loved those resorts!

They have great fun atmospheres and the Cast Members there are really extra nice to families and kids.

They give away the beaded necklaces to all guests and they have these cute little Mardi Gras tokens they give out to throw in the fountains.

The food court is great and most importantly the Pool and Parks at these resorts are super cool!

If I were bringing a child to WDW ~ and possibly for their only trip, I would definitely choose one of those ;)

Good luck with your planning!

A big "Thank you" to everyone for their feedback and suggestions. I spoke to their parents and discussed it with my other cousin who's going with us, and they all voted for AKL. I'll have to wait for my next trip to try WL or one of the Port Orleans resort.

Thanks again everyone; You're help was most appreciated! :-)

HI, my daughter and her BFF were nine when we stayed at AKL -Kindani and they both loved it. We have stayed at BCV and OLd Key West and, when asked where they would like to stay again, the vote is for AKL - hands down.
