I'm planning a trip to orlando. Will be going on June 3 - June 11. I'm planning to do two days in disney, 2 1/2 days at Universal/IOA, 1/2 at holyland experience. one day at kennedy and one day at seaworld. I made reservations at Studioplus universal. I'm now having second thoughts because I can't find any reviews on this hotel. I debating on whether to keep this reservation or make a new reservation at doubletree universal or the new hotel La quinta inn located on Major blvd. It's just me and my son that is going and I don't plan on renting a car. I figure I stay close to Universal, that way I can get the bus to go to seaworld and Holyland. Plan on taking taxi or mears shuttle for the two days going to disney and taking a paid tour to Kennedy. Is this a good plan. Do any one have any suggestions. P.S. On a budget :-)

I think by the time you add up the shuttles and local transport, you'd probably save money renting a car. It would definitely be more convenient. Orlando is very easy to drive in. I have done it many times alone with no problem.

AAA doesn't list it at all.

but lately that doesn't mean alot.

the prices I am seeing on their website seem high.

I like to try new things - so I might try it. However if this is your only trip to Orlando for several years - I might go with the La Quinta Inn.

rent a car - you are trying to do awhole lot in a short amount of time.

either leave off WDW or Us/ioa - you have time for one - not both.

they are both bad for little stays - however both are pretty good for longer stays - US/IOA has a good deal now on its website I would definitely go with that. pay for 2 days get 3 free.

Otherwise I would try for a on-site value resorts at WDW. WDW will come and get you from the airport - so transportation costs are zero. Disney tickets for 5 to 7 days are pretty good - less and you are really paying.

for the $78 per night the website has for this resort - you only need to add a few dollars to get a WDW resort.
here is a link with pricing (regular rack rate) - so if they come out with codes you might get a bargin
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/resorts/resortRates?id=PopCenturyResortRatesListingPage

you will not need a car -if you are staying on WDW property. WDW transportation is included in the price of your room.

I would forget the Space Center - that will be very expensive!!!

Thanks Shelia,

The only problem with renting a car is that I don't have a license. Live in NYC :-)

Thanks spicycat. I was thinking about cutting some things out. As I'm planning on coming back to WDW next year. I appreciate your post so much. I will definetly look into staying at the WDW resorts. Thanks again. By next year I will get my license.

If you don't have car, I would skip the whole Kennedy Space trip. It's an expensive day even with a car! I would also do Universal or Disney but not both for a short stay. You will pay more for your room at Universal, but your tickets will be cheaper and you would only need transportation from the airport because you can use the hotel transportation to the parks. If you stay at disney you can get free transportation from the airport to the hotel and use on-site transportaion while you are there.

How old is your son? If he is young, Disney would be the one I would pick, if he is a teen or older, Universal would be the park I would pick.

I have never been to the Holyland but Sea world also has a deal where you buy one day and your second day is free.

We are going to Orlando later this month. We have 3 day DW tickets, (not hoppers)and we bought 4 park Orlando flex tickets, which allows us unlimited (14) days at US, IOA, City Walk, Sea World and Wet and Wild. Total cost for all the above tickets was $1,393 fro ticketmania. Our family includes me, my husband ,son (16) daughter(9). We will be in Orlando from April 18th (morning) till April 26th (morning), so we will be busy all week, but we wanted to go to both DW and US so for us this was the best bargain! :flower:

orlandobaby, I'm thinking with your situation of not driving and also being on a budget that you should go with Disney and take out many of the other things. You are trying to do an awful lot in a short amount of time. Like another poster stated Disney will pick you up for free and then you are set for transportation while on property. Your admission tickets to Disney get cheaper (day by day wise) as you add more days, making it more economical. If you are doing several different parks for just a day or two here and there that's the most expensive way to go. There are PLENTY of things to do at Disney in a week and you still won't see it all. If you are determined to add another park, maybe do Seaworld (it's easy to do in one day) and you could use a taxi for that day. Those are just my thoughts, hope they help some. Have a wonderful trip whatever you decide.
