Yes, my dear, normally-sane son adores flannel sheets, even when it's a billion degrees outside like it is now. LOL My mother was nice enough to get him some new ones to replace his old hand-me-downs, and the new ones just showed up.
But how do I launder them the first time?? I did a quick Google, and in several places it said to wash them on cold to warm, use no detergent, add a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle, and use no dryer sheets. So here are my questions:
1.) Should I wash in cold or warm? (The sheets are white with red stripes, and solid flag blue.)
2.) Can I use vinegar *and* fabric softener? Because I can't imagine sheets of any kind without fabric softener. (I've tried the vinegar-only thing before, and maybe it's our water or something but it just doesn't do the trick to my liking. And I miss the smell of softener.)
3.) Same goes for dryer sheets -- anyone know why it recommends not using them? Because the sheets just don't smell as good without them!
Thanks for any help!!

. Personally, I would want to get the sizing out, so using laundry detergent and vinegar for that then I would use a dryer sheet so they were soft and fluffy and not like sandpaper.
