Need some pixie dust - leave sat morning and have a cold

DD4 came down with a stuffy nose last week. Just the left side of her nose, next day green stuff coming out, called the peditrician who advised that they will not treat her unless she is running a fever of 104 for 2 days, need to let it run its course 7-10 days. They also said that by brining her in she is going to be exposed to more than just a common cold (flu, strep and tons of other stuff going around in PA at the moment) So I gave her some over the counter cold medicine. All seems good with her now.

Monday DS2 and I woke up with stuffy heads. This morning, DS seems good to go. I on the other had woke up even stuffier than yesterday. DH hasn't showed any signs yet, but then he has been away working more than home.
Hoping to clear this out before Saturday morning.

Just a FYI. My kids have ear infections all the time without running fevers. I would have it checked out. I can't believe your Dr. won't take a look, especially with a trip coming up. Good Luck!

Knock on wood, all 3 of my kids (DS16, DD4, DS2), seem to have been lucky when it comes to being sick or ear infections. Alot of head colds and thank goodness only one ear infection between the 3 of them thus far. (friend of mine had her son at the doctors every other week, finally they put in tubes)

I have been watching closely for any signs of anything else with them.
Seems that the young ones are rebounding faster than the old one.

If anyone is on a flight saturday morning from BWI and and you pass a woman sitting there with a mask, that would be me.

DD and I just got over strep and she didn't have a fever of 104 but still needed antibiotics! I had her in the week before and the doctor said she just had a cold. It was going on for like three weeks so I said enough was enough and took her in again and she had strep. I had it that week too. A lot going around right now. If she doesn't seem better by a few days before your trip I would make another appointment. Good luck... Hope everyone gets well soon!

I'm getting over the sniffles myself and Mucinex saved me! I had my DD in Sept 08 and work took ALL of my sick days... if I stay home, I don't get paid. The Mucinex dried up my sinuses and relieved a bunch of the sinus pressure. I took a multivitamin (honestly, I'm finishing off my pre-natal vits) with the Mucinex and got over the worst in 4 days. I'm still a little stuffy, but it's WAY better than before.

Oh... and if all else fails, try saline solution.

Oh that wonderful cold....DD9 has an ear infection and is currently on antibiotics, she had NO fever. Just an fyi for you. Her ear didn't start bothering her until 14 days after she got sick so depending on how long you'll be gone you might want to find out where the closest urgent care clinic will be. I used Mucinex for myself but DD9 wouldn't take it, she said it was gross. Of course the antibiotics aren't any better but she didn't know that before. lol Feel better quick!!

Have you ever tried those breathe rights strips for kids....they worked awesome on DS 7. I'll definatley help with a good night sleep! Just a thought!

I am just getting over that wonderful cold too. I use airborne and just recently started using a Neti pot... Seems to work pretty well.. They also now make airborne for kids too. I just give my daughter a half of a tab in her water and it seems to work pretty well. I am a nurse in an ER and we have been seeing so many kids with the same symptoms. Alot of kids with the flu too, but those kids are running fevers of 103 or more. Good luck and have a GREAT trip..

I am going to have my husband stop for Mucinix (sp??) on his way home.

Kids are fine.

I am now able to breathe out of the left side of my nose.
Here to hoping the right side clears out tonight!!
