Our town has a 'fair' in May and we're looking to have a table to raise money for our Relay For Life team. They already have a big slide, bounce house, obstacle course, face painting, pony rides, some little game areas and tables set up with goods for sale. (they sell jewelry, homemade jams and jellies, hair accessories, purses, etc)

I'm looking to have something to draw the kids in, I just don't know what! Anyone have any ideas? I'd REALLY appreciate it.

We are going to have some Relay stuff including luminaria bags that people can decorate themselves if they purchase them. But like I said, I'm looking for something that the kids will REALLY want to do/see/buy.

Thanks in advance.

Balloons!!! My kids LOOOOVEEE balloons! Last time we went to a block party at the pony ride stand they had cowboy/girl hats and bandanas you could buy. I'm pretty sure the Dollar Tree has them for a dollar. What about glow sticks? they have them there VERY cheap too!

rent a cotton candy machine and sell bags of it or on a stick, like at a carnival, that's usually a big hit with the kids

Duck pond, too. Who doesn't love a duck pond? :goodvibes
It's a big hit - especially with the younger kids

What about a dunk tank, you could see if you can get some teachers to volunteer to get dunk

At our Family Fun Day, we had this surf board rider thing. It gets blown up with air, and the surf board is motorized, so it moves. So you get to "ride" the surf. I didn't actually ride it, so I'm not sure how it works, but it was a big hit.

Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming!!

I love the Surf Rider idea. I'm not sure if we could get one around here but that's a possibility.

They've done the dunk tank before and may possibly be doing it again this year. I think they do cotton candy too!

Keep those ideas coming!! Thanks!

do an 'everybody wins' CUPcake walk. make your area with only a dozen squares, the person who lands on the spot for which the winning number is drawn wins a cupcake, the others get a small peice or candy or some stickers. if you charge 50 cents each, with every go round you make $6.00. it's one the parents can sit down during:thumbsup2 and people within your group can donate homemade or store bought cupcakes (the fancier appearing the better). you could break it up by periodically (maybe once an hour) doing an actual cake walk and upping the cost for that round to $1.00. if you use donated cakes and cupcakes your only cost is the tiny prizes so it's total profit (and if it's a faire geared at kids, as a parent i always look for the games where my kids are guaranteed to get some kind of prize).

How about a puppet show? You could charge a 50 cent admission into a tent. Then, behind a stage someone could put on a little 2-3 min. puppet show. You don't even need really good puppets, just go to the Dollar store and get some. The show doesn't have to be great either. Kids love anything!

Or, how about a tent that has a disco ball, bubble machine, and music going. Kids can pay 25-50 cents to come in & dance.

Duck pond, too. Who doesn't love a duck pond? :goodvibes
It's a big hit - especially with the younger kids

I know its off topic, but I worked a duck pond last weekend. I was stunned by how many parents came up to me and said, "Exactly how do we do this?"

Do you know how hard it is to say, "You choose a duck and you get a prize" 15 or 20 times without sounding like a complete smart ***...:lmao:

How do you not know the rules of a duck pond?

But it was a huge hit!:goodvibes

Is the carnival at night? Kids LOVE glow necklaces!

Do any of the people on your team have access to any perennials that they could divide, and then sell at the fair? Does that make sense? If not...let me try again. I have a bunch of hostas that will be coming up in early May. This year they need to be split up, because of overcrowding. I could (hypothetically) dig some up and sell them. In my case...I'll be replanting them in other parts of the garden.

I was going to suggest the duck pond thing also...but get the pink ducks from Oriental Trading. Also, sell the pink ducks for $1 each. The girls love those ducks.
You could also get other cheap prizes from Oriental Trading.

The event is during the day, from 10am until 4pm.

I'm pretty sure they already do the Duck Pond.

I don't know what to do! It seems like any idea I come up with, it won't work out.

I'd love to do airbrushed tattoos but we don't have access to anyone that does it. Plus, with us trying to raise money for charity we'd be asking the people to donate their time/supplies.

What about the goldfish, ping pong toss. Kids love that.

Or, bean bag toss
