Need some hotel help for our big family!

I've been scouring DIS, checking out various travel websites, looking at maps... I haven't come to any conclusion and my head hurts! Maybe someone can offer some advice for me.

My family is going to DL in October (dates not firm but hoping for the 9th-12th, with 3 of those days in the park). We are a blended family, and have lots of kids! lol. We have four kids between the ages of 6-10 and then we have a baby who will have just turned 1. We can't very well get two rooms, but we're also on a budget and don't want to spend a ton of money on a big suite that we will hardly be in. We plan to stay off site.

I have narrowed my search to these based on this board & reviews I've read: Fairfield, Camelot, Ramada Maingate, Carousel Inn, Best Western PPI.

Two things are a must - within walking distance and some sort of continental breakfast.

So what are my options here?? The baby will either sleep in our bed or in a crib so we could get away with two queens and a pull out couch... But I'm not sure if they offer and/or allow that?

Please help!!

I'll add in another option and say Residence Inn Maingate. It's a little further from the ones listed, but at a 10minute walk with a very good (IMO) breakfast, spacious family suites or bi-level loft suites, it would fit your needs.

We had a loft suite, it had 2 queens 'below' with their own bathroom, then 'up-stairs' a king bed with another bathroom. There is also a kitchen on the main level, and a small living area with a fold out couch bed.

Just my 2cents.

The standard rooms at Fairfield Inn have two queen beds and a pull out couch. You can probably get rooms for your dates there at about $93/night on lastminutetravel.com. If you do a search for those dates, the FFI is listed as the hotel that is 13.63 miles from the airport at $93. The site does not list some of the hotel names. People have posted that if they called LMT, they were able to get the parking fee waived.
The FFI does not offer breakfast though.

We love Residence Inn Maingate. Full hot breakfast, it is walking distance, but is a long walk (10 mins), and we love the full kitchen.

Looking at your choices, Fairfield isn't going to work. The 2 queen room comes with a fold out chair, not really big enough for someone past 5yo. And it doesn't have breakfast.

The Tropicana also has a suite set up.

In our family, the continental breakfasts don't work, most have no protein.

Anytime I stayed at the FFI, we had a pull out sofa, not a chair. It could easily sleep 2-3 kids. We always booked a standard room.
Walk to the park was short.

When we stayed there (haven't stayed in a year) we always had a chair in the 2 queen room, and a sofa in the king. They have had a remodel, so perhaps they went to the sofa. Looking at the room listing on Marriott's site, the 2 queen rooms list "Oversized Chair" in the 2 queen rooms and a sofa in the King rooms. I would suggest calling the Fairfield to make sure this room will work.

ETA - They also have a suite now that includes 2 sofa beds!

We love the RI Maingate, hot breakfast gets us going, free grocery shopping, never had a problem the years we have stayed there, totally agree.

Now that you mention it...we do usually stay in a King room at FFI. When we travel otherwise, we usually get two beds and that got me confused. :guilty:

Sorry OP, I thought the FFI would work for you without having to get a suite.

Our family of six stayed at the Park Vue Inn and were pleased. Stayed in a two-room suite with 3 queen beds. Only 5 minute walk to park entrance, so we easily returned to our room for naptime. Decent breakfast. Reasonable price. We hope to stay there again for our Christmas trip next year.

This would be my suggestion as well. It's roomy, the food is actually really really good, and they have an evening thing with more food. It felt more like we were staying in a condo than a hotel.

Jack, could you explain the "free grocery shopping"? I'm booked there (Res Inn on Clementine) Oct 29-Nov 5, and we could use some supplies and it would be great if they could just arrive without us wasting time at a store!

We stayed in the deluxe family suite at camelot inn. it worked great for us. 4 adults, 1 teen, and 1 baby. The kids could have one room and you and the baby in another. we also got a crib, but that was before they started charging for such things.
