I'm hoping there is someone out there who can help me answer this question. When is the evening rush hour over on I-4, from Orlando to Daytona?

On our last park day, which is a Wednesday, we are planning to leave late afternoon, pick up our rental car, and drive to Daytona to visit family for the last few days of our trip. I was originally planning to leave Orlando at about 5 until I realized that most people are not on vacation and that's right smack at rush hour (at least around here it is!).

I was wondering if we might eke out another hour at the parks and leave Orlando at 6 pm instead, if the traffic would be mostly cleared out by that time. Can anyone confirm if Orlando to Daytona rush hour is over by 6 pm? I'd like to arrive in Daytona by 7:30. TIA!

Usually abates about 6:30 - 7 pm. A lot of people work till 5:30-6pm, so, traffic is still pretty heavy. Take two hours at the park and have a nice ride to Daytona. :)

If you don't mind paying a few dollars in tolls you can take 417 to I-4. You'll bypass downtown Lake Buena Vista and Downtown Orlando which is where most of the congestion is at.
I checked the Expressway Authority website and it says the total tolls would be $7.25.
