Okay we are going to WDW sometime in the first part of December 03 for about 7 days.

We will have our 6 yr old son and our 4 yr old daughter. I really want this trip to be so special (their 1st trip!!!)

Okay, I need some ideas on places that are fun, different or just unique to eat.

I've heard anbout 'Cindy's' but not sure of the details.

Also, the one that looks like a car drive-in looks neat. (MGM, I think?)

Where else??? I would like at least one special place for each park.

Any suggestions???

Thank

My kids are now 10 and 7 but have been going to WDW about every 18 months since they were 6 and 3. Here's some places they enjoyed by park:

MGM - We've eaten at the Sci-Fi Dine In (the one with the cars) and 50's Prime Time. The Sci-Fi was OK - food not that great. 50's Prime Time was fun - the waiters/waitresses act like family members and repremand the parent for things like elbows on the table, etc. DH played along with the waiter and my sons got the biggest kick out of "Daddy's in trouble!" The food was better here - but nothing wonderful.

MK - We always eat at Chef Mickey's, which is not actually in the MK but at the Contemporary Resort. It's a Character Meal/Buffet. In the MK, I wanted to try Cindy's but my sons did not want to see "any princesses" - so no luck. I do like Columbia Harbor House for lunch - chicken nuggets, fries, etc.

Epcot - Garden Grill is neat (in the Land) - the restaurant revolves to show the "Living with the Land" boat ride. The kids also enjoyed Teppanyaki, which is the Japanese restaurant where the chef cooks your dinner at your table. They also liked the Biergarten in Germany, which is a buffet with MANY desserts!

AK - the only sit-down restaurant is Rainforest Cafe. We ate at the one in Downtown Disney. It's entertaining for the kids, and the food is OK.

I hope this is helpful. I would try to do at least one Character Meal, as kids always seem to enjoy those. I've also eaten at most of the World Showcase Restaurants in Epcot and all of the ones on the BoardWalk. Let me know if you have any questions and good luck!

Magic Kingdom- I would recommend a character meal at Crystal Palace. It is a buffet and we have always enjoyed the breakfast. We usually eat late (11) and it serves as both breakfast and lunch. There is a nice variety.

Animal Kingdom- Rain Forest Cafe is there. It is different and my kids have always enjoyed it. The character meal at AK is Donalds and it is good but you may not want a character meal at each park and it is only a breakfast.

MGM-50's Prime Time Cafe is a pretty cool place to dine. If you are looking for a character meal it is Hollywood and Vine. Minnie is pretty cool there. This is also a buffet. My favorite restaurant at MGM is Mama Melrose. Your kids may like the Pizza Planet but I honestly believe that the pizza really stinks there.

EPCOT- Too many choices here! The Coral Reef at the Living Seas is a really neat place for atmosphere. It is pricey and the food is good but not great. Still, it is worth eating here at least once. The kids love watching the fish swim by. Norway is in a castle and has a nice buffet type meal. I've never eaten in the Mexican pavillion but it looks pretty and some people do enjoy it. Germany has a very lively lunch or dinner with entertainment.

Downtown has a lot of options also. Rainforest and Planet Hollywood are great restaurants for their theme. Food is ok.

ESPN is a fun place to eat at the Boardwalk. You can walk there or take a boat from EPCOT and MGM. There are tv's everywhere even in the bathroom.

1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian and Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary offer very nice character meals for breakfast and dinner and are buffets.

That is the great thing about Disney Dining... it all caters to kids, so you really can't go wrong. Your kids will feel welcome anywhere (I wouldn't really suggest Victoria and Alberts, though!)

I would do a couple of character meals... perhaps a princess one for your daughter, and maybe Goofy, Mickey or Donald for your son.

As for restaurants...
MK: I don't really have a favorite restaurant in MK that isn't a counter service. For those, I like Pecos Bills and Cosmic Rays

Epcot: Garden Grille is alot of fun. The dining room slowly revolves, you can see the Living With the Land ride from it, and it has Farmer Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale on hand to sign autographs and take pictures.
San Angel Inn: kids love the decor... the market place is fun for them, and they like the boat going by the restaurant. My DD liked the cheese quesidilla... we told her it was a Mexican grilled cheese.

MGM: DD likes Mama Melrose (says they have the best spaghetti) and she feels like she is eating in the Italian restaurant where Lady and the Tramp are. She also really likes 50's Primetime Cafe.. the food is great, and the servers are so funny, and Hollywood and Vine, which is a buffet character meal, featuring Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale and Pluto. The buffet here is outstanding, and the service was great.

Animal Kingdom: our 2 favorite counter service places here are Tusker House and Flametree BBQ.

Resorts:
Polynesian: 'Ohana.. fun for the kids, great food for the parents. Kids can order from the Kona Cafe Kids menu.

Grand Floridian: 1900 Park Faire---breakfast features some of the following characters Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Mad Hatter, Bert. Dinner features Cinderella, the Prince, the mice, and the Fairy Godmother. We have done the breakfast and found it to have great food and great service. There is a wondeful buffet just for the kids with kid friendly items. Parents are welcome to eat from it, as well.

Contemporary: Chef Mickey's. Kind of loud, buffet OK, but the kids really get into it.

Cape May Cafe: we love the Clam Bake at night. Very relaxed, all you can eat, big sandcastle sculptures (my DD loves them) and a separate kids buffet. The dessert bar is one of the best anywhere! The service is good, as is the food.

Bon Apetit!

MGM - You've got to eat at Sci-Fi - especially for boys, they just love the atmosphere. My three kids insist we eat here every trip. The food is fine, it's Disney food. The shakes are great, burgers are burgers kind of hard to ruin.

MK - We've eaten at all the sit downs except Crystal Palace. If you can't get into Cindy's it won't make or break your trip. Try Liberty Tree Tavern, that was a fun character meal.

Epcot - I think Garden Grille would be fun, we've never tried it with the kids. Maybe next trip.

Have a great time!!

sci fi diner. It kept our kids interest, they were 7,5,3, and then the teenagers loved it .the food is good and the atmosphere is great. also the character meals at hollywood and vine are great, we go for breakfast and minnie is in a pretty gown and goofy and chip and dale are there , they sing and dance , and it never seems to be so crowded or rushed
