Ok, we have our theme...for our scrapbook
it's a movie theme..
can you all help me think of some ideas???

I thought spot lights ~ need to figure out how to make them ~
camera
movie camera
film roll
film strip
need to make a directors thingy they slap together to start filming

Colors
thought maybe black, silver, white, w/ accents of red, yellow, gold

Anyone have any ideas how to make any of the above??? Point me in the right direction.
film strip I have the sizzix die and mickey's cart....

We have to do a page on the kids and their projects.. we thought about having a red carpet theme.. have the kids pose like on the red carpet and then have them write a BIO and include the required info on it... the adults would type it so we can delete projects they don't complete or info not appropriate.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!! :)

Locker talk has a ticket stub, a camera (regular not movie) and the directors slappy thing. You could also use stars. Like the hollywood walk of fame. Maybe create a marqui for the title page.

Sounds like a fun theme! Good luck!

Mickey and Friends has the film strip

ETA- sorry, you already had that...should have finished reading

spotlights: you need something that is shaped like a cylinder and some yellow vellum. cut the vellum light a big V and attach the cylinder to the bottom of the V.

movie camera:
on the my world cart they have a wagon, you could use the wheels as the movie reels and attach that to a rectangle for the body of of the camera, then you need thin straight pieces for the legs. Use the Walt disney statue at MGM as guidance. You would need something for the lens, probably a triangle.

You could make a movie poster with a picture of the kid, then all the facts below. Sounds like a really cute idea, Nan!!

You could do a movie snacks page with popcorn and sodas and candy. Use it to talk about any food projects they are doing. AWM has made some great elements for something like that.

There are also the comedy and tragedy drama masks.

You could do a playoff on lights camera action if this is to showcase their other projects- Under the lights section use the red carpet and stars opf fame to show off the kids doing projects, under camera have them write about the equipment and preperation stuff needed on pages like set desgign, costumes, props, ect. Then under action you could show them doing the projects and journal about things that happened as they did the projects, what they learned and so forth. Have your ending be the closing cradits listing projects finished and those who helped as parts in the movie- the director would be your leader, the assistant directors- the parents who help, the cast would be the kids involved, those who donated supplies would be prop designers, ect.

Keep the ideas coming!!! I'm copying and pasting so I can print this off for our upcoming committee mtg...

Going Places also has a camera on it.
Another thing you can do is a megaphone - like the old style ones the directors used - one of the streetosphere characters uses it at DHS.

For my General DHS group, I created 3 "movie" paper piecings - using CDS. Do you have CDS? I can send you the cut files. But I designed the movie camera like at DHS - using just as BAMB said, a rectangle, two circles, a triangle, and 3 sticks for legs. I designed my own clapper - I think that is what the director snappy-thing is called, and a megaphone. Each has a couple of layers for the colors and stuff. You can see below.

I cut these out already, but haven't put them together yet. As soon as I do, I will take a picture of them. But if you don't have CDS, I can always cut some for you! :goodvibes

No, I don't have CDS....
darn it.... I can't justify the expense yet... I'm so bad..buy for everyone but myself as of late! LOL

I love those!! Just love them!!!

I never thought of the megaphone...that is great!!! :)

Thanks! I always tell people that unless they have the patience, and the time to learn a program, don't bother buying CDS. I only have it because I got it for an unbelievable price, and couldn't pass it up. But it's a terribly unfriendly program, with no manual, and no support. Everything I've learned about it is from the Cricut CDS MB. So trust me, you are not missing anything for not getting it.

But if you have George, I'm pretty sure that I used it to create these. You can download the trial version of CDS, and it lets you cut things ONLY from the cart that your bug came with - so if you have the baby bug - and you use the trial on our baby bug, then you can use George to make things for free. But if you have the big bug, you can only use Plantin Schoolbook to make things for free. Just a thought that I just remembered. :goodvibes

Good to know.. I have the create..and george from my baby bug!!! :)
I will talk to DH tonight about the free version!!!

I have little to no patiences!!! I'm really bad... DH laughs because when he goes to remodel, I like it done in just a few hours... it doesn't work that way!! LOL

Doesn't the free version cut a line thru the item?

All great ideas. Love the poster picture idea. :thumbsup2

I didn't read all the responses, so my apologies if someone else already mentioned it, but you could put participant names & project titles on a theater marquee & then project summaries on a movie poster.

I have some cut files for SCAL that I could cut for you if you needed. You can see the elements here:

I have a directors chair, the megaphone, movie camera, film reel and clapboard (that's what the flapping thing is called.)

Mischief Managed - your stuff is way cute and very creative at how you came up with it. I don't have CDS - just SCAL and I take the easy way out and buy stuff instead of creating it myself!

Thanks NEE!!! I'm loving the director's chair for sure!!
Our leader does NOT like her photo taken..and I want to dedicate one page to her unknowingly!!!! I'll have to get her kids to help me!
