Ok all....I am now T-minus 10 days to my third DCL "Magical" cruise...and all I can talk about at work and with anyone who will listen for that matter is Disney and DCL....and I am getting a lot of heat from people that I have and will always overpay when cruising with Disney....they claim the food is substandard on DCL and you get taken care of as well on other cruise lines...now...I can only compare it to the Big Red Boat that we did about 15 years ago...so there is no comparision since I remember very little of the details...except maybe the gambling...which was fun but I could take it or leave it...and I usually leave it when I gamble if you know what I mean....anyway....I do think you get magical pixie dust when cruising with DCL....what do you guys think and give me so ammo for some of my dummy friends and co-workers...alright...maybe they aren't dumb....but to not expierence DCL at least once is just a shame.....

Well, we just came off the Nov 2nd Eastern cruise and Disney had 2 Sign
Language people at the shows for only 1 person who was hearing impared.
One person on the entire boat and they brought on not one but two people
to do signing. Wonder if other cruises would go to that expense for 1 passenger?
I thought that was pretty special even if it didn't apply to my family. Actually,
the sign language couple was really funny and I'll bet most of the audience
had one eye on them and one eye on the show.. Disney is different...

Staterooms 25% larger than most other cruise lines.
Compartmented baths
Gorgeous terminal - not a warehouse
SEPARATE space for adults ie. pool, private beach, adults only restaurant; adults only pool and hot tub, etc.
The most beautiful, sleekest, ships on the sea

Oh, yeah, like I enjoy spending EVERY NIGHT of my vacation dining in the same room with a new waiter that I have to train about my likes & dislikes.
Can any line match DCLs embarkation/Disembarkation ease?

Does any other cruise line provide covered canopies at their tender stations so their guests do not have to stand out in the hot sun and wither??? Do other cruise lines serve ice water under those canopies and hang a big WELCOME HOME!!! sign on the side of the ship after a tiring day of shore excursions???? I think not!!!!

Does any other cruise line have the Disney Characters onboard?? Again, I think not!!!!

Any other cruise line have a restaurant that changes color or an Adult Only rest. (Palos) voted best on the seas!!!!?

Any other cruise line horn play "When you with upon a Star"?

Does any other cruise line dock at their own private island, and not have to tender???

Any other cruise line let you bring and consume your own liquor onboard?

Should I go on??

Thanks all....and now I do have the ammunition.....and you definately get what you pay for.....I don't ever see myself sailing on any other cruise line besides Disney.....sailing in 10 days on the Magic and like last year...we are booking next year...as if I did not need an incentive...Disney upgraded us to a category 5 from a category 8 three weeks ago....so it is Disney for us...and we will be spending 5 nights in Disney World when we get back....talk about heaven on earth...7 nights on the Magic and 5 in Disney....I died and went to heaven.....
Almost 9 days to the "MAGIC"!!!

We are being told the same thing by relatives who were going to join us on the Magic, but backed out because they would rather go with a less expensive cruise line. But the bottom line for me is that, as a parent, I appreciate the extra mile that Disney CMs go to put a smile on my DS's face and to make it easier for me to concentrate on having a great time with him. Other companies often merely tolerate children and they make that very clear with their level of service when it comes to families. I would pay the extra for this kind of pixie dust anyday!!!

DCL is ranked either 5 or 6 in Conde Nast Travel Magazine for best cruise lines. Above Royal Caribbean and Carnival didn't even make the top 10.

When someone questions 'why you pay more for DCL when you can get the same on another cruise line'. It's not another cruise line its DCL.

It is everyones choice as to what kind of vacation they choose, how much they spend on it, and where they go. Those 'friends and coworkers' probably didn't give you a dime to put toward your cruise so what difference does it make to them how much $ you spend?

I have ONE word for you.... Okay, three words....

FUN FUN FUN!!!!

When I first started reading cruise boards to decide about cruising, I hadn't even LOOKED at DCL.... I was like your skeptical acquaintances, thinking Mickey Mouse???? Well.... What I found was a complete turn off... Everyone online complaining about being herded around like cattle, rude crew members, less than 10-star dining, (boy do some folks have ridiculously high expectations) Like, the table cloths were not bleached, starched, and ironed to their satisfaction... etc... etc... etc... Hey, stuffy dining every night at the same table with those starched pressed tablecloths is just not my idea of a FUN vacation!!

Also read complaints about the ships... small staterooms... plumbing problems... etc... etc... etc...

When I finally did hit SUBMIT to look into DCL, Boy what a surprize! What a breath of fresh air... Nothing but all the WONDER and MAGIC of a Disney Cruise!

Immediately, it was DCL or bust... I knew we could NEVER afford a cruise on DCL... But to make it possible, we booked more than a year in advance for the cheapest 4-DAY fare offered. Can't wait!!!

Okay, do not wear yourself out trying to convince everyone... Some people just do not learn!!

After all, how much you pay for your vacation is YOUR business... And, hey, the cruises will be better if they are filled with raving DCL fanatics like those here on the board!!

I've stopped trying to win this argument. I've gone through the same thing, both about the cruise line and with Disneyland. My wife and I have no kids (at least, until March!) but have annual passes at Disneyland. We probably go a couple of times a month. People constantly ask why we go to Disneyland or on a Disney cruise without kids. I've even been asked while on the DCL bus, by fellow cruisers, why we were going on the cruise if we didn't have kids.

Now, I would (and often do) cruise on other lines. I'd cruise on just about anything that was seaworthy. There are things I like about most every line, but Disney is our favorite and we'll always go back.

In the end it's our money, and we feel we do get what we pay for, so I've stopped trying to justify how I'm spending it to others.

Hey guys....three years ago I was trying to get my wife to go on a DCL vacation...she resisted because she felt it would be just loaded with screaming kids all over the place....so we kind of compromised...we did the Wonder...3 nights at sea and 4 days on land....well....we just had to book the 7 day Magic last year because according to her...3 days was not enough on Disney cruise ship....and we are going again in 9 days....all it took was 3 nights and she yearns to go more than once a year now...if only I was rich....but thanks all for your responses....I love reading these boards....keeps me smiling....and the anticipation is taking over now.....9 days to the "MAGIC"!!!
