Need some advice... unplanned blessing

We just found out 3 days ago that we are expected another little one but also kind of puts a damper on some of our plans.

We have a 14-night Westbound Transatlantic Cruise (Sept. 18). That we have to cancel because I will be passed the 23 week mark in my pregnancy. I am due at the end of October / early November. They say my due date is October 30.

We were thinking of doing a back-to-back cruise shortly, never really done one, but have been on lots of cruises. I just don't know how it would be with two other little ones in tow, that are actually moving now.

Following, that cruise we planned to spend 10 days in WDW. This might be pausible, we might just have to move it up a little bit, it is kind of close to the due date.

Has anyone gone while pregnant? Any advice, recommendations. The doctor advise against it when I was pregnant with the twins, since I had a high risk pregnancy, but since we are pretty sure there is only one baby, we thought we could squeeze in another trip with the boys, before the little one comes.

We also have a Panama Canel Cruise booked the beginning of January 2011 which we will have the baby, but he/she will not be 12 weeks yet. Has anyone ever left their baby at home to cruise. I could not imagine this? It would stay with my parents who I trust with my life? I just don't know if we should wait to cruise until we all can go.

I guess in the long run... maybe this will help me cut back on being an obsessive Type-A planner, especially now when we will have 3 little ones in tow.

Personally, I wouldnt take a baby that young on a cruise, nor would I leave the baby behind to cruise because you cant just hop a plane and get home if you need to.

As for the others, I think its a good idea to cancel the TransAtlantic, pregnant at any stage because of the limited resources. WDW will be fine, though its alot of money for you to go and be restricted as to which attractions you can do.

Why not postpone WDW until the Panama Cruise dates and book a cruise for a later date for just you and DH? Something uber-pampering, because you two will probably need it.

Congratulations on your expected little one!

Circumstances came about where my sister cruised without her youngest who was 2... She took her oldest who was 6, while we kept the little one for a week. So its been done.

I don't know what Disney's rules are as far as the age of a child to cruise but I've been on many cruises and saw wee babies, some definitely not 3 months old yet. I can't think of an easier vacation with a tiny baby!

Personally I can't imagine leaving a baby that young at home, and like others said, you can't just hop right on a plane to come home (the cruise line will actually fine you for leaving early). We left DS with my parents when he was 8 months old for a quick trip to Vegas. There was no way I'd even feel like traveling when DS was 12 weeks old, not to mention I doubt my parents who are in their early 60's would have wanted to watch at 12 week old for that long. If it was me, I'd have to cancel the Panama Canal cruise.

I would move the Disney trip to May or June and forget about the rest of the traveling until later. It just isn't worth the hassles and worrying you will do.

As long as you buy travel insurance to cover any medical emergencies, I'd cruise with an infant. We took our daughter on her first cruise when she was 5 months old, and she was the hit of the ship. With a baby that young, you could wear him/her in a sling or beco a lot of the time to keep her away from touchy strangers. And, if you are bfing, food will not be an issue.

Also, I went to DW 14 weeks pregnant, following a high risk/bedrest pregnancy. I drank lots of water, took it slow and loved every minute. Of course, I discussed it with my doc, and he said to have a good time!

Hello!!!

Congratulations on your expected little one!!! That's so exciting!! I was following your Disney trip since we also have twin boys a little older than your boys (we have an almost 4 year old daughter too - so you will soon be in a similar boat - although the reverse!) I didn't get to read the rest of your trip report since I was busy getting ready for our trip so I'll have to do that now!

Anyway, I did take a Caribbean cruise during my second trimester when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter and didn't have any issues. I was a little nervous about it though, esp. since it was my first pregnancy, but my doctor gave the OK. I might be a little more concerned with a transatlantic one though. I would definitely try to squeeze in one more trip with just the boys though, even if not a cruise, to Disney or wherever. I can tell you that traveling with 3 small children, especially with two toddlers and an infant, will be much more challenging so might as well take advantage of spending some quality time with them before the baby is born

Thank you, for all your advice, thoughts and congratulations. I agree with most of you, that I don't think I could leave my little one behind for two whole weeks to vacation, so we have cancelled (I prefer the word postponed) those trip for a later day (hopefully Disney will offer them again).

We have not decided what we are going to do about our October WDW trip those, I would love to take the boys one more time before this little one is born, we just can't seem to find the right date. Crazy Work Schedules!!!!

On a brighter note, the boys and I are tagging along with my parents on their Helsinki Cruise w/ Disney, in June. I am excited but worried about travelling with two toddlers that love to be on the go all the time, how they will handle it. DH is going to try to get it off, but who knows Summer is his really busy months so it is hard to say.

I am glad you postponed your Cruise as you would not be able to travel anyway. We were going to go on a cruise and Disney said that they do not allow expecting mothers to travel after 20 weeks. I am sure for safety and they could not handle an emegency of that nature. Who knows?

Things may have changed since this was 4 years ago.

I would love to hear more about your trip, when you were pregnant, it is just that if we do plan to go I would be about 30 - 35 weeks pregnant at the time. Any advice would be great!

You are right, we could not go on the Transatlantic Cruise, because I would be over 24 weeks pregnant at the time, and the new little one could not come on the January Cruise because he/she would not be 12 weeks yet, so we will do one this summer and hopefully make up the 2011 one later in that year. Disney has been very accomodating I am quite grateful actually.
