We're planning a trip to WDW in Dec 2010. It will be my DH, my 5 yr old daughter and 13 yr old step son. I'm wondering where we should stay. We need a room with 3 beds. I looked at the value resorts, cause we are trying to stay on a budget, but it looks like they only have rooms with 2 beds? What do other families do? This is our first time traveling with both children together.

Thanks!!:confused3

Here are some ideas;

* Check out family suites.....lots room, beds and 2 bathrooms and kitchenette

* consider Port Orleans w/trundle bed

* mom sleeps w/daughter, dad sleeps w/son

* bring inflatable sleeping bag, small aero bed for 5 yo

Rooms do only have 2 beds (full until you get to deluxe or Coronado Springs) except Family Suites, Cabins, villas, Deluxe rooms (have small day bed), Port Orleans w/trundle.

Hope this helps!

All-Stars Music resort's family suites have a Queen-size bed + a Double-size sleeper sofa + 2 twin-size sleeper chairs. Not 3 beds,but another option you may want to check out.

When my kids were that age they still slept together at the motel 'cause we were all in the same room anyway! Or and as they got older we slept Mom/DD Dad/DS.
You could also sleep the 13 yr old under the covers on the bed and the 5 yr old in a sleeping bag or blanket on top of the covers so they are sharing the bed but not really touching.

You can rent a rollaway bed at the value resorts. We did this for our stay at POP. DS10 needs to have his own space to sleep and DH and I would not have been comfy sleeping together in a double bed. We just left the rollaway set up the whole time, but you could fold it each morning to give you extra floor space. We did not spend much time in the room and this worked out great for us.

Our family is the same setup as yours, only both boys, currently 14 and 4. We won't consider one room, for our sanity more than anything else. Teens can be moody, preschoolers whiny, etc. I would strongly consider a 2 or 3 BR condo offsite. Less time on top of each other = better vacation imo.

We have a trip planned for April 2010 to Universal and we're springing for a 2 room Kidsuite for this reason. We want to ENJOY vacation! :goodvibes
