Hi, we are planning a June 2013 trip and we have one additional adult (grandmother) travelling with my husband, myself & our 6 & 8 year old children. We currently have a 1 bedroom villa at AK Jambo House reserved as it sleeps 5. I'm concerned that it is too far "away" from the parks (we do come back to our rooms during the day via the buses so a long ride going and coming would be kind of a pain). Any thoughts? The Jambo House looks really nice and I like that there is two separate sleeping areas and a full kitchen. Have we made a good choice? Should we pay the extra $75/night for the Savannah view over the standard view? We historically have stayed in standard rooms at the WL and were just looking to branch out and try something new. We also considered Old Key West & Bay Lake Towers...

Thanks!

I've never had extra long bus rides staying at AKL. The longest ride is to magic kingdom and I don't think it's more than 10 minutes or so depending on traffic.

I agree with the pp that the bus rides from AkL are not that long. AKL is kind of out away from everything, but the buses only service AKL and Kidani, so there's no sharing with any other resort and the bus rides to any of the parks are not that much longer than from any other resort (maybe an extra 5 minutes, if that). I think you made a good choice as AKL is a beautiful resort. Having a savanna view is nice, but IMO isn't really necessary as there are plenty of areas around the resort to view the animals. We have stayed in a pool view and savanna view and we liked our pool view just as much as our savanna view.

Just got back from a trip that included six nights in a villa at Jambo and I can say the bus rides weren't particularly long. The longest ride is to and from MK and that ride is 15 minutes (to MK) and 17 minutes (from MK with the stop at Kidani first).

AKL was BEAUTIFUL. Just a wonderful resort with lots to look at and explore. We can't wait to go back!

Great to hear! I was hoping to hear that! I was leaning toward staying with the standard view in the hopes that there would be plenty of other opportunities to experience the animals. I also heard that the pullout sofa/chair are actually comfortable (not the typical pullouts that are hard, full of springs and bifurcated with one big bar through the middle-haha!) so if all that is true, we will be thrilled! Maybe we'll try BLT or OKW next time :)
