Need some advice about walking/ standing/ waiting

If it is like one of those small folding camp stools with 3 legs, then no Disney is not going to allow it. They have to allow medical devices per the ADA, but anything else, meant for other functions, they won't allow you to use it.

You will probably have to bite the bullet and either use a wheelchair or rollator or other device like these if you want a seat with you at all times. Just because you bring these with you into the parks, doesn't mean that you have to stay in them all the time. Some people even ride their ECV's to a area. Park it in stroller parking and then hit a few attractions in that area. They then get on their ECV and ride to the next area and do it again if they need to.

alligatorfriend sorry to hear about your cronic pain:hug:

I am going thru a similar problem as you. I have a broken leg that was opperated a month ago, and I need another surgery July 16. I cancelled my trip in Aug and made it for Sept 24 thinking I would be fine by then, but I havent walked on my leg in 7 weeks and wont start until Aug so I have no idea what I will do:sad2:

Just curious are you nervous of what people will think or say if you use a wheelchair? I personally am feeling really nervous:guilty:

Thank you for your empathy. I am sure everything will work out okay. I am not nervous what people would think if I use a wheelchair, I just have to keep moving around to stay comfortable, and I'd be restricted.

I hope your leg gets better soon. There is nothing shameful about using what you need. If you are really embarrased, wear some ysort of brace on your leg.

I am sorry to hear about your leg and I hope it heals soon and correctly! Have fun!

Yes, originally I worried about what other people would say, but honestly I have only had one or two rude people say anything and I generally refuse to acknowledge them.

This is YOUR vacation and YOUR leg and YOUR life. Driving an ECV is not easy and not fun and is VERY expensive. It is still better than sitting in a hotel room all day or (heaven forbid) not going to Disney.

I now use a wheelchair fulltime and dont even think about other people when I go out.

Just remember: There is a difference between surviving Disney and enjoying disney! There is no reason to be in pain or miss things you love just cause some idiot won't mind his own business!

Honestly I doubt you will have problems - I never notice other people because I am just having so much fun in the parks!

I honestly think a wheelchair would be your best option :goodvibes

I'm 22 and *have* to have a wheelchair at WDW. I've tried doing without, and had to have been carried by my DM and DB before because I couldn't walk after less than 45 minutes round Epcot.

Like you, I can't stand or sit for too long, so I'm constantly in and out of the wheelchair. BUT, being IN the wheelchair means that I can actually do some walking, etc, when I'm OUT of the wheelchair.

It's worth a shot at least...give one day a go in a wheelchair and see how it goes :thumbsup2
