I have a room only reservation on hold right now but am trying to find out if joining AAA would be worth it. Can anybody with a AAA membership get an online quote for me please. I've called AAA and keep getting transferred or have had to leave a message. I have gone to their website but have to have a member name before I can get the full quote.

Here's our information:

Two adults and an 11 year old son.

Arrive at Pop Century on 5/29/08 and depart on 6/7/08. Want a standard room.

Want 7 day base tickets.

We really don't want to book a package because, for the last two years, we have had a package and didn't even use the "perks" that came with the package. But, if that's the only way I can book, then I guess we would go with a package through AAA.

Unfortunately, we won't be purchasing the dining plan this year as Uncle Sam didn't just knock on our door, he busted through and made himself at home with our checkbook!

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!

AAA standard room rates at POP for those dates would be $98.10 (for Sunday - Thursday nights) and $107.10 (for Fridays and Saturday nights).

Your room total would be $909.90 plus 12.5% tax = $1,023.64

You can just add to that what 7-day base tickets would be for the three of you.

Hope that helps you out.

I had existing reservations at POR and joined AAA last week - added the discount and saved $148 per room.

Thanks a bunch. The total you have for the room is what I came up with but an AAA travel agent finally called me back and said the room total is $1,134.04. That doesn't make sense to me. The tickets were $220.00 something each and they don't charge tax.

I can't figure out the difference in the room price.

Make sure the quoted price was for a standard. Sounds a little like an extra $10 a night plus tax for a preferred room.

Basically the figures I got off the AAA website is a 10% discount, and they did have rooms at POP available for your dates with the 10% discount. It looks like they didn't give you the 10% off. It's not much of a savings, but it does save you a little.....about $114.

Call them back and tell them that according to their website, your room total should be "$909.90 plus 12.5% tax, for a total of $1023.64, and see what they say.

We haven't done a room only ressie in a while, so something may have changed. I don't think you have to make the ressie through AAA do you. We used to call Disney and make the ressie directly and just tell them AAA discount (and need to show the card at check-in).

Does anyone know if this is still correct? If so, just call yourself before you join AAA, get the rate or book the room if it sounds like a good deal, and then call AAA and join and bring the card with you (or call them back with the number if they request it).

My question is a little different. We booked straight with Disney for the room, airline flights, DDP and park hoppers. We have AAA but did not mention it when booking. If we call Disney back, will they adjust the room rate downward?

Have any of you done this?/

Hi, I would call WDW and ask first if they have AAA rates for your time frame available. If they do then explain that you would like to change your package to the reduced room rate. Joan

Sounds like a plan. I'll call this evening and let everyone know what Dis says.

While Disney can and will (pending availability) apply a AAA discount to room only reservations, you have to book AAA-discounted packages at a AAA branch. They won't be able to apply the AAA rate to a package for you.
