Need showers of pixie dust!

Me, too. As of this week, I'm unemployed for 9 months. No real leads or potential jobs at the moment, either. I have to say that I'm enjoying the time away from the corporate world and spending more time with my husband. But I really do need to find a job since I'm too young to retire yet.

If there's any extra pixie dust left over after the OP gets a job, I'm standing underneath it to have it fall on me!

I hear ya:hug: My fiance got laid off from his high level banking job over a year ago...Got an awesome severance, but thats long gone now, his unemployment has run out, waiting for extention to come through, but they ''lost'' his income paperwork from the bank:headache: They wont give him anything until they fix it, he's gone almost a month w/no check...He has no leads either, he's either to overqualified or he's qualified, but he doesnt have the degree, even though he's been in managment for 20 yrs.
My income is crud, half of what I used to make before economy hit skids. Now I've a travel agent, which is what I've wanted to be my whole life:yay:
I've got 2 diplomas for Travel/Tourism, and I got my ears from the College of Disney knowledge:goodvibes But I'm only commission and dont have any clients booked yet:rolleyes1
Wow, I am so sorry to go off on that tangent:rotfl:, sometimes when you start venting to people in th same situation, you cant stop.
OP, I'm sending you tons of pixie dust..And to you also Inkmahm:grouphug:

Thanks, and venting is allowed here between DIS friends. I can relate to the "overqualified" status. That also translates into "too old" although I"m only 52. I'm lucky though because my severance is spread over 2 years so I'm still getting regular paychecks. I'd just rather be doing something to earn them.

To Athenna and Inkmahm I too understand the whole over qualified thing. :scared1: I was high up in management in banking too and so get the lack of jobs in that area. I will gladly share my pixie dust with you (and everyone else here that is unemployed!) :hippie: We gotta stick together! I'll keep you posted on my progress and you guys keep me posted on yours! :woohoo:

Hugs all around:grouphug:
Well, I booked my first client today:banana: However, I'm only getting $44.60 commission from it:rotfl: Airlines aren't commissable, so travel agents charge a fee, it's a senior citizen father of a friend, so I charged him the minimum 10%. And no one told me that Marriotts aren't commissible across the board, they only accept certain travel agent licenses, and mine wasnt one of them:headache:
Fiance jokingly says, we should go out to celebrate me getting my 1st client, I said we can't the celebrating will cost more than the $44.60.:rotfl: You've just gotta laugh sometime, so you dont lose it:upsidedow
Glad we can comiserate with each other:grouphug:

Inkmahm, thank heavens you got a great severance, what a Godsend.

Thanks for the good wishes! I know that I am so much luckier than most unemployed people. And this would be a lot harder without DH here to keep me sane. And the DIS, of course. I probably spend way too much time here.
Good luck to us all!
