:hyper: I woke up this morning, and I realized that I only have a few more days till my trip. And last night, I stepped on a nail at work. A normal person would say, 'Ouch! Am I ok?' I said 'Oh no, I need these sneakers for Disney World!' That got some funny looks. The nail didn't make it through to my foot, but it did put an inconvenient hole in the bottom of my shoe. So now I need new sneakers (tennis shoes, whatever you call them where you live). But there's no time to break them in! So I came here to ask the people who would know. What do I do, DISers?

That's my project for today- trip shoes. Oh, and trying to figure out how to print my will-call thingee for MVMCP on the 12th. I bought them, THEN realized the printer can't plug into the laptop without a USB cable. Let's hope I remember to print it at work on Tuesday.

I recently purchased a pair of Reebok Rhooba's at Kohl's, they are almost like walking on air, no break-in period needed!

Good luck in your search.

Besides being a lover of WDW I am also a devote mallwalker (5 years so far) and my favorite shoes are any New Balance walking shoes as long as they have a SL1-Fit insole. They are a bit pricey but since finding them I have very little knee or back pain, and walking at WDW has been a breeze!

Get yourself some New balance shoes, I swear by them and I work 12 hour days on my feet, I have never had to break them in at all and they do come in wide and narrow widths, you can find them almost anywhere, JCPenney carries them also and alot of times they are on sale and although they are great shoes they will not cost you an arm and a foot (leg!) I don't think you could go wrong with any of their styles, and once you start wearing them you notice how many others are wearing them.....

You could also just squirt a little bathroom caulk into the hole in the sole; that should make them waterproof again, at least for awhile.

I agree on New Balance. I wear 715 runners and 620 crosstrainers and have never had to break them in.

NEW BALANCE!!! I can't say this enough. These are the greatest and you don't even have to break them in. I know many people who are on their feet a lot and they had told me about these a few years ago. They are now the only ones i wear. I hooked my husband on them also and he is now the same way. BUT... We like the walking ones the best. some of them are not as comfortable as the walking ones. THEY ARE GREAT!!!!

Shoes don't need "breaking in". If they're uncomfortable when you buy them they will continue to be so. Try on several pairs until you find one you like.
And that feel good when you walk. It's not so much about the shoes, but how you walk/run in them that determines the knee and/or back pain. And how much you usually walk. Some people walk on the outside edge of shoes and others tend to roll inward (especially flat feet). My feet and legs are usually sore after a day walking around WDW simply because I'm not usually on my feet that many hours in a day.

Just as a side, I've never gotten blisters from proper fitting tennis shoes with decent socks. Blisters come from lose fitting shoes that continually rub against your heel or whatever.

I'd pick up a couple of pairs of comfortable walking shoes and trade off since you want them to dry out between wearing.

Ahhh, you've come through again! The problem is solved, I did get New Balance shoes. They are great, and I didn't realize how bad my old ones were until I put these on. Wow, there's actually support for my feet now! So that nail was a blessing, I think I will have happier feet now.

bdcp, I guess you're right about the non-breaking in period. But new shoes do feel different, which can take some getting used to. Especially or someone like me who wears the same pair all the time (can you tell I hate to shop?). I'm going to bring the old pair as back-up for wet feet.

Buying trip shoes means it's almost time! Hooray!! Thanks again, everyone!
