You make an excellent point about "better not cheaper". When we went last fall, I managed to "save" a lot of money through careful research, but ended up respending it all to make our vacation better! DVC makes sense for people who take that approach.

BTW what did you think of Grand Hotel?

About this whole numbers thing....I agree with pretty much what everybody has said but the bottom line is this...The whole thing is based on the Mouse..if you don't like WDW and going to WDW (VB and HH excluded) then this so-called "inventment" will be "costly".
I bought DVC because thats where, among other place I enjoy traveling to. Is it costly? in terms of dollars in my opinion yes. Is it worth it? in my opinion yes. Keep in mind your spending thousands on Mickey, Minnie and the rest of the gang so maybe its not the most logical(but it sure is fun).
