Need reviews of Cape May Cafe

Thinking of going to dinner at Cape May Cafe. Who has been there before, and what did you think?

Well, considering it is the one restaurant in WDW that we NEVER miss, I guess you could say that we like it ALOT!

There are 4 sides to the buffet bar. One has clams, mussels, fish, red potatos, corn on the cob and New England Clam Chowder. The opposite side has BBQ brisket, chicken, pasta, mashed potatos, and other veggies... this side also has the kids mini bar, with mini hot dogs, mac n cheese, pasta, and chicken fingers. The salad bar is huge with everything imaginable, including small peel and eat shrimp. The dessert bar is also huge with various cakes, pies, tarts, cookies..all wonderful!!!

We have always had outstanding service... they ice tea or soda can't get down to half full before they are refilling, and our table has never been overwhelmed with containers of empty shells from the mussels or clams... if anything, the servers are over eagar to replace the shell buckets...lol!

The atmosphere is very airy, which light colors, and DD loves the sandcastle sculptures.

Can't wait to return in October!

We never miss this restaurant, either. It is not gourmet but the food is good and there are plenty of selections for seafood and meat lovers. If you like desserts you will be in heaven.

We went last week to the buffet without a PS at 7:30, and our beeper went off within five minutes. Great meal!

DW will not allow a trip to WDW without eating at Cape May at least once.

I really enjoyed Cape may when it first opened but over the years I noticed that the peel your own shrimp got smaller and smaller and the steamers are very small. Drinks used to be included but rather than raise prices, they started charging for drinks a couple of years ago. As with most buffet type desserts, they look better than they taste and the clam chowder is a bit too processed for my taste. We still go however because the kids still like it. I find that Chef Mickey's is more enjoyable with better food selections however. Usually when we end up at Cape May, it is because we are at the hotel and it is pouring.

Travelbug, John took me to this restaurant for the very first time last year. He had been there before and enjoyed it very much. I loved it too! In fact, we had dinner there again this past July.

I would highly recommend it!!

BTW, when are you going to WDW in December? We will be there the first week...Did we discuss this b4? LOL!

Hi, Carol Ann K! Glad to hear you also have enjoyed Cape May. We now have PS ressies for an early dinner on NYE. I wish we could go down in early Dec. as you are. We would love the smaller crowds instead of the Christmas week crush. But I am tied to the last week of Dec. for vacation time, so we'll be there Dec. 28-Jan. 4.

But hey! Crowds or no crowds, it's still a trip to Disney, right?

Where will you be staying? We'll be at BWV for the first time.

Have a terrific trip in early Dec. and be sure to tell us all about it when you're back.

I just did the Cape May this past August for the first time...I loved it, and it is definately somewhere I'll be going back to again...and I liked the Clam Chowder! A great dessert selection too...mmmmmm... creamy cheesecake....
