Need recommendations for offsite for July 4

Hi,

We are going to Disney July 4th - We have reservations thru the FT package for July 5-12, but we are looking for an inexpensive place to stay just for the night - I know that July 4th will have lots of fireworks and I'm trying to find a cheap, but close hotel where we might even be lucky enough to see the fireworks....or walk to Downtown Disney.

Any suggestions? We are staying at the All-Stars, but I wanted to spend less for the one-night stay - I considered trying Priceline, but it's a little intimidating (I've read a few boards on bidding, and frankly - it's a bit confusing!) - I'm looking in the 50 dollar range (cheaper if possible!) -

Am I dreaming?

I can suggest Comfort Inn Suites Maingate East. We're actually checking out of Vistana on the 4th and I don't want to travel on the 4th so we booked at this hotel. We stayed their 2 years ago after Disney resort as well. It's close to WDW, the rooms are big with small refrig and micro and it wasn't too expensive. Also, they have a continental breakfast. I dont know their rates but I can recommend Days Inn, Lake Buena Vista resort just outside Hotel Plaza drive. I wouldnt walk to DD from anywhere in central florida July heat and humidity, (except maybe the Hilton or Wyndham Palace) but it would be a cheap cab ride to DD from the Days Inn.

Thank you for the replies - I finally just bit the bullet and got an available room at the All-Stars (same hotel) - I figured that we could settle in on Friday and be ready to go on Saturday, rather than switching hotels -

I think you did the right thing ... it was exactly what I was going to suggest you do. The amount of money you would save staying off-site for one night v/s being at the All Stars the whole time is minimal. Plus, now you'll get an extra day on your refillable mugs .
