My boyfriend and I will be going to Disney 10/27-11/1. The first 3 nights we will be with friends and are booked for POFQ. I had hoped the room only discount would come out b/c I thought it'd be a nice surprise to book our last two nights once everyone left at WL. Once discount became available today I switched reservation from the 5 nights at POFQ to the split stay between POFQ and WL. Is it worth the hassle of having to check in at another resort? We'll be at epcot evening EMH on 10/30 and the MNSSHP on 10/31 (both of which will be late nights). Am I crazy to spend the extra money on a room we will barely be in or is the convenience of being closer to MK and Epcot for those late nights going to make it worth it? Thoughts?

Also, do you think if we do move to WL the concierge at POFQ would help me with the surprise. Could I ask them to call our room and say they need to switch our rooms for some reason and ask us to pack up our bags and they'll move them for us to the WL?

That's a cute idea. I think you'll be able to find a cast member to do that for you, unless there is some rule that does not allow this, but I'll guess you can get someone to play along for you.

My wife hates the split stays because of always packing and stuff so...... my concern would be your boyfriend getting tough with the cast member about the "inconvenience of having to pack up and move so...... I don't know.

In any case the if you'll be over at the MK for this part of your trip then go for it. Have fun.

I think it is a cute idea, but I would never do a split stay. I like to unpack and hang all of my stuff once I get somewhere and to pack it up/unpack it and then pack again to leave is too much hassle to me. It is a concept I just don't understand, but seems to be common here so I must be the odd one. Maybe b/c we vacation differently.

it would be great after the Halloween party to go to wl. i think i would go for it if i were you. its just the two of you so no big deal having to switch right? i would give your bf a reason why you have to switch rooms like discount or something. then i would wait to say anything about the wl until its time to go back to the hotel at the end of the night. :)

We're both the types that keep everything organized in our suitcases when traveling. Packing up would probably take less than 10 minutes.

That's a great idea. I handle all the disney planning and he wouldn't even think twice if I said we needed to move because of a discount. Poor guy has been listening to me stress over room only discount rumors for months!

I think that sounds fun, especially if it's just the two of you, and packing will be easy.

haha! good, then he will be easy to trick. :) sounds like fun!

I haven't stayed at either resort but I say go for it!!! You might find that you prefer WL over POFQ or vice versa. It will be so much more convenient getting from the MNSSHP back to your resort. The WL boat launch never seems as crowded as the POFQ bus stop.

I've stayed at both resorts and you will not be disappointed. WL, POR, and POFQ have so much to offer in terms of theming, ambiance, and amenities.

The boat back to WL after MNSSHP is definitely a big sell. A few years ago I had been at the lounge at WL and a friend and I took the boat back to MK for late night EMH. As we were getting on the boat it was just us and two other women. The friendly CM mentioned "sometimes late at night when we have a small boat load I like to play Celine Dion's titanic song over the loud speakers and let guests recreate the king of the world moment". It was magical (and hysterical) standing up on the bow of the boat going across the lake to MK with the castle ahead of us and Celine Dion blaring over the boat.
