need reassurance about flying United

We are flying United in late October. Here in Australia, when we fully booked our flights, we knew nothing about the problems they were having. We tried to change our carriers however, there is a 100% no refund with United so we are stuck. I am soooooo worried they will affect our holiday, will they totally stop flying or are the problems just with striking? When should it be resolved? Also, I am concerned about the safety, such as will they continue to service the aircraft properly etc....if they are in bancruptcy? Hope someone can allay my fears, this is our first holiday overseas and to WDW and I am dreading that it will be ruined all because of this problem.

I would suggest visiting www.flyertalk.com Go to miles and points, then United. You will get great information on United there. Just keep an eye on things but you should be fine.

I agree that Flyer Talk is a great site. Please try not to worry. Many of the airlines have had problems since 9/11 and none of the larger ones have succumbed yet. It seems that USAirways has dodged its issues and I'm sure United will as well. The only thing I have noticed slipping in the last few years is customer service (most notably with USAirways), which is unfortunate, but unless it is especially egregious it won't ruin your vacation. Keep abreast of what is happening, but don't overwhelm yourself with it. Chances are you will be just fine.
