Do you tip a massage therapist?

And how much if it's a free one? My DD won a free massage today.

ETA: She normally charges $20/half hour

I'd think you would, and I'd venture to guess between 15% and 20% of the price, just like most other tipping situations.

I tip $5. That is way below 15-20% as an hour is like $80. I feel like they are already getting an hourly or per massage wage and $5 is a nice top up imho. But if I were to go to someone who either owned their space or business, ie worked out of their own home, I would not tip. That's because all the $ goes to them already unlike working out of a salon or clinic.

And I think that it would be nice to tip even if you got the massage for free but I don't know that it is expected at any time.

Thanks, guys! I hadn't thought of it until the last minute for some reason.

I'm going to be so jealous watching her get this massage! I'm the one who's been needing one (degenerative disk disease in my neck). :rotfl:
