Me and my new DH will be honeymooning at DLR. I know once upon a time if it says 8 am the gates would open 1/2 hour earlier to allow you into the main street area. Is that still true or does 8 am mean 8 am?
My second question is we have a phone app that in theory estimates crowd capacity: how accurate are those? The one that we looked at for the week we are staying shows that Sunday is going to be the least busiest. I'm having a little trouble believing that. We have a four day park hopper pass (arriving Sunday October 12th and leaving late afternoon Friday the 18th)and want to use them on the days that we will get the most bang for our buck any suggestions. Thanks!

The park can open earlier, but it may not. We were there last week, and went to DL on Wednesday, 10/9, and they did not let folks in through the gates until 8am. Sometimes they will let guests on MS 1/2 hour early.

Crowd Predictors do not work as well in DLR as they may in WDW. They just can't predict the local crowd or their impact. The week you are going will likely be a busy one due to AZ fall breaks and UEA at the end of the week.
