I have requested a 1 bedroom pool view at the BCV for Labor Day Weekend for a special family event. Are they any clues or hints to help me get that secured? I believe they assign rooms a few days before check-in and I was thinking about writing a letter explaining my unique "need" and the family event. I also have some cast members at the BCV, that I have come to know pretty well, that I can ask for their assistance. I am open to suggestions.

Thanks all!

For DVC, the best way to get such a request done is to tell MS and they will note it in the computer. Then at check-in they will see the request and try to accommodate it.

DVC doesn't work like the regular WDW resorts, so calling or faxing in a request a few days ahead doesn't help any.

Keep in mind, it's just a request. While in your mind your situation is special, every other member checking in that day has as much right to their requests as you do. Your best bet is probably to check in during the morning, and see what is available. If your request can't be met at that point, you can politely ask if something meeting your request will be available later in the day. I think the CM's will work with you to the best of their ability.

But in the end, you may not get your request. My guess is, you will still be able to have that very special trip you are planning for. Good luck! :)

FYI: The "pool view" at BCV will be of the quiet pool, not Stormalong Bay. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there are any views of SAB from BCV, only from BC and YC.

Good luck with your pool view request and I hope you have a wonderful stay.

Correct, and Storm-a-long Bay is quite a ways from the Villa portion of BC.

My only suggestion is not to "need" a view so bad that not getting it ruins your vacation. I doubt that it would ruin it, but it may take awhile for you to say, "What the heck, we're at the BCV at WDW!"

Pixie dust for you to get what you want!!

Check out this site ParkInfo2Go for the layout of BCV. We stayed in a 2BR (324) a few weeks ago and had an awesome view of the Iluminations fireworks. I would suggest 320 for its view and location w/in BCV - close to elevator and down a short hall = little traffic and noise.

To get the view you want you have to do two things:

1. Call the hotel the night before you arrive, ask for the front desk, not member services or reservations and have the front desk person work with you to assign a room for the next day. We did this and it worked quite well. They will be happy to do it, just do not call reservations.

2. Try and check in as early as possible, say about 2 oclock.

Good Luck

So you could see Epcot from Room 324? I guess 320 would be a great studio, then. I'd love to be close to the Elevator and have view of Epcot. :woohoo:

They take note of requests but that doesn't mean that you'll get it. We've never really had a problem getting a room close to what we want, but your trip is over a holiday weekend so I don't how that will play out. Just make sure to mention it when you check in also

Room 320 is a 1BR, the studio is 322.

These are considered "woods" view rooms, what you can see is the tops of some of the World Showcase buildings and the higher Illuminations fireworks.

We stayed in the rooms 420/422 (as a 2BR lockoff), one floor higher, and you can see the view here http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-bcv/room420.php

Except that our DVC literature says we are NOT to do this.

Just wondering how you even got the front desk? If you call the resort, don't you go to the centralized front desk operations center? You do if you call the Front Desk from your room. The people there are not supposed to transfer you to the actual front desk - the resort wants those CMs to help the guests checking in and out.

I got the front desk when I asked for it. It was the front desk of the Beach Club - no problem.

Actually I called reservations a week before and asked them. The person told me to call the front desk the night before. THat night they assigned me a specific room (457) which you can only see a partial view of the top 20% of the fireworks - I think you have to be on the 5th floor to just barely see over the tree tops)

Then when we checked in they also offered me a pool view if I wanted it.

Was the most accomodating group I've ever dealt with. I already have a room assignment for my April 2007 trip (just kidding).

We just returned from BCV last night, and I was dissapointed in the view from our unit. We have spent LOTS of time (pre-DVC) in the Beach Club. We generally would go to WDW for about 2 weeks/year and almost always stayed at the Y&BC and always had a lagoon view room.

For some... I understand that a good view is not that important. However, I really do enjoy a great view. None of the BCV rooms overlook the lagoon which is what I always liked best about Y&BC. The view across to the Boardwalk is great.

This trip we had a view of Epcot, but I think the view is impared because we had to look across the road to see Epcot. We were only on the 2nd floor, but on higher floors... you have a better view of the unattractive "behind the scenes" areas behind Epcot... so I am not convinced that higher is better.

I had requested a pool view... and we were there at the check-in area bright and early to get a good room. However... I was told that there were no pool view dedicated 2BR units available that day. Oh well... at least I did not get a smoking room :) However... I think that even the view from a pool view room at BCV pales in comparison to a nice lagoon view room in the hotel.

In fairness... I believe that the view from a condo (1BR or larger) is somewhat less important than the view from hotel room because you have more space, and are not all cramped in.

We stayed in a sudio with woods view last December and could see the Illumi fw's. So I checked out the Parkinfor2go site for dedicated 2BR/2Q locations and put in a request for 124, 224 or 324. (I didn't request 424 since most of the smoking rooms are on the 4th floor.) We stayed at POR Sat night and checked in at 9am. They had us assigned to 324 and the room happened to be ready by 9:30. Our views of the Illumi fw's were just like DisZips.

YMMV

Thanks for the info. What is the Parkinfor2go site url?

Our 2BR dedicated did not have 2 queens... I did not realize that they were all not configured that way. 2 queens would have been better for part of the trip... but not as good for other nights... so it worked out OK. This is nice to know for the future.

We also could see the fireworks from our room, but we were generally out and about during the fireworks displays anyway. Our typical day was to get into the parks at opening... return to the condo after lunch for a few hours, and head back into the parks (or other resorts) around dinner time.

Sorry, I misspelled it....it's parkinfo2go.com. I posted the url in post #6.

Even when you ask if they are the front desk or not, they will tell you that they are the front desk, even if they are in a call center in Kansas.

Make your request with MS and make it your first request if that is the most important to you.

Book early, only ask for Pool view as your request and you should have no problem.
