I'm trying to plan a trip for 3 families for next year to celebrate 3 40th bdays. A cruise has been mentioned but being DVC I would love to do disney. A GV would be perfect but we would be over the 12 person limit by a baby (1yo) who would use a crib. Don't want to break any rules but don't want to have to get a 2BR and a studio and have one family feel left out. Any ideas? We are two families of 4 and a family of 5.

Grand Villas accommodate 12 guests plus a child under age 3 in a crib. You will be fine in a GV.

Make sure you match up the families with the sleeping spaces so you don't have some non-family members sleeping together if they don't want to do that. And one more thing. The member who supplied the points gets the master bedroom. ;)

Make your reservation for a GV at your home resort at 11 months out. And make sure you get all the families to confirm at that point. If you borrow points from you next UY to get enough points together to make the reservation and you have to cancel because someone backs out of the plan, you won't be able to "unborrow" those points.

We have had three families and they were happy to get the studio since we spent plenty of time together. Another option is two 2-bd. You get more bedrooms and the points are less.

Thank you for all the info. Sounds like the GV will work afterall. But if 2BR are less points and I'm thinking easier to get since there are more of them I need to give this some thought. Never would I think that I wouldn't get the master bedroom!:thumbsup2
