I am going to WDW for 2 weeks next summer ( last week of June and 1st week in July) and I was thinking of spending my middle weekend at Universal. I have never been there so I know nothing about it. It will be just myself and DS 7. I priced a 2 night pkg and the cheapest one onsite was 763.00 that seems really high but I have read something about FOTL access when you stay on-site. Is it worth the high price tag? Is there a cheaper way to do this? Any suggestions? I feel totally lost when it comes to Universal.
First, I would recommend you do not purchase a 'package' from Universal...most times they are not cheaper than booking a la carte. I will tell you that a Friday and Saturday nite stay are slightly more (appx. $25) because it's a weekend vs. staying weekday) If you are a AAA member, book your hotel (Royal Pacific will be cheapest and Portofino the most expensive with Hard Rock between) and then purchase tickets separately....(I think people have been reporting RPR around $209/nite for that time of the summer) I think the 7 day ticket is still $86 (which is a bit cheaper than a 2 day/2 park ticket). You can walk to the parks from any onsite hotel.... and yes, if you stay at one of the 3 onsite hotels, your room key will give you unlimited express pass (FOTL).... Definately worth the price!
