My mom and I are planning a girls only trip to celebrate her birthday in Feb. :flower:

We will be flying from California and arriving around 6:00 pm on a Saturday. We are staying 7 nights and will either have 7 or 8 day park hopper passes and the dining plan. I think that we will be tired after our long flight, but we will also be really excited that we are in WDW! :Pinkbounc

It is my mom's first time in WDW and since it's her birthday trip, I want it to be really fun for her. She is really interested in seeing all 4 major parks (no water parks) and she likes most rides and loves to shop. I am planning on booking a spa treatment for her on her birthday.

What would you guys suggest we do on our first night (considering that we have been on a plane all day)? I was thinking that we might try to get dinner somewhere...maybe CP at MK...or go to O'hana's for dinner and get to bed early and not worry about going into a park our first night...or go to DTD for dinner and alittle shopping... :confused3 I just don't know where to begin!

What do you think? I really would appreciate your help getting my planning started! ;)

Thanks in advance for your help!
Please give me some good ideas!

After a long trip and arriving at night I think I would opt for a really nice dinner at DTD, maybe Wolfgang Pucks or Fultons.

Don't forget to get your mom birthday buttons in all the parks, they are free at guest services. She'll be wished a happy birthday by lots of folks and maybe even be surprises with some birthday magic. My sister and my niece wore the buttons on their birthdays and it was a blast.

Don't forget to tell the hotel when you check in that it's mom's birthday, they may provide a little magic, remember that "may" is the key word, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't.

How about ordering a birthday cake? Does your room have a fridge? Leftover cake is a nice treat in the evening.

No matter what you do it will be a birthday to remember I am sure. Enjoy! :sunny:

That sounds like so much fun, sharing a birthday trip with your mom!

Without knowing your mom, how old she is, how her energy level is, etc., I'd suggest going somewhere relaxing for a nice dinner that first evening but not venturing into a park until the next day. How about dinner at one of the restaurants on the Boardwalk, and then strolling around the Boardwalk area afterwards? It's so beautiful there in the evening, there's almost always some activity going on there (street performers, etc.), plus you could see and hear parts of Illuminations without having to venture into Epcot.

That's just one idea, but it's what came to my mind first.

I took my parents to WDW for 9 days this past Feb., and we have such wonderful memories of that trip. I hope you and your mom have a very special and fun time together! :sunny:

I would say DTD or the boardwalk your first night. Both places are lower key so you can eat then got back to your resort to sleep if you wanted or if you want to party a bit both places have fun venues to visit, dance clubs, shopping, what ever suits you and since you don't have to have reservations for any of it, compleatly flexible!

When I went on my birthday, I made sure to get all the Birthday buttons from all 4 parks, partly because I am a pin collector and because after my friend got me the first one, we had a great time with the special notice we both got. It was great and since each park has a different one be sure to get all four from guest services at each park. Also be sure to let any of your servers or hotel staff know for even more suprises. At first I wanted to hit my friend for telling everyone but then we both got into it and had a great time.

Have fun what ever you do!

Last year I went to WDW on my birthday, got the button. The best part was the talking trash can literally stalking me in tommorrowland singning HAPPY BIRTHDAY and repeatedly asking me "so...how old are you NOW?"

Thanks for all of your ideas!

Since we are staying at POFQ, maybe the best thing would be to go to DTD and eat a nice dinner and walk around and shop a bit since we can take the boat over there easily.

We are really looking forward to our trip!

Thanks again!

A really nice dinner. You could go to DTD or go all out and take her to Victoria and Albert's.

If you want to go to DTD, take her via the boat. It is a nice ride.

I would suggest dinner at the CA Grill. If you get there an hour before wishes you can be up there to watch the Wishes Firework Show which is amazing. You basically have a beautiful view of the MK with fireworks above Cinderella's Castle. They even dim the lights to give you a better view.

How easy is it to get from POFQ to another resort? For instance, if we need to get to Poly or CR what's the easiest way? We will not have a car so we are using disney buses.

Thanks for all of your suggestions everyone! :flower:
