Need Pigeon Forge info help

One thing that we like to do is get a picnic lunch in Gatlinburg (KFC etc...) and go into the National Park. There is a picnic area called Chimney Rock Park. It is on the way from Gatlinburg to Cherokee NC. There are also some "quiet walkways" along the way.

Also the Disney Catalog Outlet is in the Five Oaks Outlet Shopping Mall. It is near the back. Five Oaks is a huge Outlet Shopping area.

:flower: Ooo- (sorry- Daniel Day Lewis image in my head :goodvibes ) isn't Chimney Rock where Last of the Mohicans was filmed? We've been wanting to go there. We've driven to Cherokee several times.

You are right. The picnic area in the Smoky Mountains near the Sugarlands information center is " Chimney Tops" picnic area.

There is the Music Road Inn and the Music Road Hotel. They are across the road for each other. We have only stayed at the Music Road Inn. It is absolutely beautiful. This is the only place we stay when we go to Pigeon Forge.

olde gatlinburg place--- condo within walking distance to downtown Gatlinburg, aquarium, etc... always clean!! not too high price either. 2BR around $125 per night this time of year....

I called today to make our ressies for December. I called Park Vista(I stayed there in high school-HA). The room rates were 59 and they are usually over 100..............I am so excited. Has anyone stayed there lately????

Also got my dh a guided fly fishing...........for Fathers Day!!

YEAH

Countdown begins...

Forgot to mention Mainstay Suites in Pigeon Forge, about 1/2 mile of the strip and has lazy river and two pools. All suite hotel, staying there on fathers day weekend as a matter of fact. Dollywood and Splash Country here we come.

Governor's Inn (stayed there on a time-share looking deal 2.5 yrs ago).
Fairfield by Marriott was next door to the ?Five Oaks Lodge? (can't recall without finding brochures) We liked the Lodge though. We rode the horses that are in the pasture between the two.
Briarstone...but it was a long time ago

If you want to "walk Gatlinburg", fine. But I wouldn't want to stay on the 10 block strip. I enjoyed that in the 80's when I was in my 20's....can't stand it now.

Brother and his wife stay at Valley Forge Inn in PF.

We have stayed at Music Road Hotel but not Music Road Inn. We loved the Hotel! Rooms are spacious and extremely clean. There's a 24-hour indoor pool and and mini-waterpark outdoor pool! The continental breakfast was unreal and even had biscuits and gravy!

The Hotel has been there several years but the Inn was just completed within about the last two years. It is right across the street. My understanding is that the Inn has larger rooms and even has some family rooms that will sleep up to 8. The one thing that leaned us away from staying there last summer was the fact that it is also a convention center. We always try to steer clear of those type of accomodations, just our preference.

Here's a link to both:

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll be glad to answer if I can!

This is where we rented a cabin. I think it was around $500 for 7 nights. Our cabin was about $95 a night and the 7th night was free. They often have specials where you get the 3rd and/or the 7th night free. We were really pleased with their service as well. We stayed in Gatlinburg. We loved the cabin and will definately use them when we go back (hopefully soon!).

Don't forget to visit the Disney Catalog Outlet while you're there. This way you can get a Disney fix at the same time. (I couldn't resist a plug for my hubby's sister store.)

Just wanted to update since things have changed since this thread got started. The Disney Catalog Outlet Store there has closed :sad1: . It is now a Disney Store Outlet---but don't be misled--it is not an outlet. The merchandise is NOT outlet priced but all regular retail prices you would see at any Disney store. So, if you just want to go to a Disney store while you're in town---then go---but if you're looking for the great prices of the old store----they don't have them. In fact---the outlet still had their Halloween costumes at full price last time I called EVEN when the regular Disney stores had already marked theirs down.
