Need Park Hopper for one day trip!

any idea's on how to get a cheap park hopper ticket for one day in a few weeks? we are from the east coast, but will have folks with us from Southern California. We were hoping the southern california resident rates would be park hoppers...but they are twofers...so I have two questions.

1. anyone know of cheap park hopper tickets (not the $20+ more than the single ticket)
2. anyone know if you can use the twofer on the same day? I know that I couldn't go back and forth between parks...but could I hit CA, then when done with that go to Disneyland?

1. Sorry, you're not going to find many discounts on 1 day tickets.

2. I doubt it, but I'm not sure. This is probably along the same lines as the question for WDW "Can I use 2 days on a base ticket for 2 parks in one day?"

No the 2-fer tickets can't be used on one day.
