We are planning a trip in October 2012 with the family. I am hoping for FREE DINING! It will be myself, DH, DS, DD, my husbands mom, brother and his 5 yr old son. So our original plans for October are totally different. Should we get a 2 bedroom villa at Saratoga Springs, OR just get two family suites at AOA?

First of I noticed you won a trip :cheer2: the funny thing so did we and we leave July 14 fingers crossed ( we can not book until 30 days out). I would do SSR. We did 2 weeks there with 5 people. It is nice and quiet with great play areas for kids. Also being that close to DTD is really great it added more to the trip then I thought it would. The only warning I have is SSR is one resort were I say rent a car.

Oh so cool! How did you win the trip? We won the Facebook HOW LOEWS CAN YOU GO? contest. Why rent a car? We will be flying in, but my brother in law will be driving in with my MIL and his son so we will have his car. But his car isn't big enough to transport all of us. SSR is about $1000 more than AOA 2 suites....but if it is easier we can probably swing it.

Figure out who is sleeping with who, and who gets the king size bed and a bedroom door that locks!

Never been to the family suites, but I love the 2BR Villas. The only problem with the 2BR villa is that it's hard to go back to regular hotel rooms after that.

SSR dedicated two bedroom villa will have one king sized bed, two queen beds in the second bedroom and a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. No sleeper chair in the living room. If it is a lockoff, it will have one king sized bed, one queen sized bed and one double sleeper sofa in the second bedroom (plus a kitchenette) and a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room.

If you can make your group fit, do the two bedroom villa. If you don't like the other family members enough to spend an entire week with them in the same space, get two rooms. Or a one bedroom and a studio - as long as your MIL plans on staying with her other son.

I think we have decided to do the 2 suites at AOA. My little nephew LOVES Cars and he has never been to Disney. He is only 5 and he is autistic, so I think giving him this room will be such a joy for him! My kids are HUGE park kids...we are rarely in the room. So my DH, myself, and our kids will stay in one suite and his family will stay in the other. I would LOVE to stay at SSR...but my little nephew is the priority!

We won our contest simply by entering a newspaper contest. Fill out the form and send it in. We won a dollar amount with a travel agency so we hope to make two trips out of it.
Even though you have decided on AOA the reason for a rental at SSR is simply due to the size of the resort and the fact that the outside world is so close.

That is so great you won! The contest we won was just for the resort. We got 4 days/3 nights in a deluxe suite at the Portofino Bay Hotel, Loews Gold Status for a year, and $50 in food credit. My son's photo got the most votes on Facebook and we won the contest. We already have Annual Passes to Universal, so we didn't have to worry about tickets. When are you going?
