Need opinions.....I'm starting to second guess Whispering Canyon

We are a group of 20, going to WDW to celebrate my dads 60th birthday. 1/2of the group will only be coming for one day at the parks and to a suprise dinner for my dad, that I have scheduled for Whispering Canyon. My dad hasn't seen this 1/2 of the group in several years, and it's a total suprise that they are coming. From what I read, I'm starting to think it'll be too loud/crazy in there for them to talk and catch up........ We do have an early 4:30 reservation so there will be time to catch up at the resort afterwards.

We picked that place due to the size of our party, and the fact that we'll have 6 kids with us, all under the age of 7.......so we didn't want something too fancy. And we're going during Thanksgiving, so I thought the decorations would be beautiful at Wilderness Lodge.

Reassure me we won't be shouting over each other.

I think it may be a bit loud. . . but with a big group - that may actually make you guys all feel more comfortable to have louder conversations and big laughs.

My other recommendation would be the Luau at the Polynesian. . . we had our rehersal dinner there, and it was great!

You could also do the Grand Floridian Cafe. They usually have a long strip of tables that can be combined together.

We had a rehearsal breakfast for our wedding at Whispering Canyon and it was great! We had about 40 people and we were able to talk. It wasn't too loud, and it was a lot of fun!

I think WCC is going to be a great time for your big group - and you are right - the Christmas decorations are just beautiful at WL. Hope this makes you feel more confident about your decision!

I would think WCC would be a good choice! But, I think Ohanas would be better! They seem to handle large groups well and the atmosphere there is great!

I think you are totally FINE!!! In my opinion and by experience.....they tend to do a crappy job on tables for two..NOT large parties. I'm sure you all will be their main focus being a party of 20. When my husband and I ate there, we were ignored the whole time. But noticed the tables with bigger parties were getting all the attention. I know..sounds crazy but that was my take on it. I'd say stick with it. You probably will have more interaction than we did.

I think you will enjoy WC. One thing I like about it is that it's got lots of room and is very open. For the price, you can't beat it.

If it is the loudness you are worried about, I can tell you that I didn't really hear anything when we were there because we were off in the back behind the fireplace. We were so far away from everything and it was actually pretty quiet. I was disappointed though b/c I thought it would be fun to have all the shenanigans. But just know you can be seated in a quiet area if you want to go there. I think Ohana would be fun, too - its my fave restaurant!

If you really are concerned about the noise level, you can always request to sit in the dining area that is removed from the main one. It has a wonderful view of the lobby and there is a fireplace. I think that it is large enough to accomodate your group but you would probably be at a few tables. The only down side is that you won't be as big of a part of all of the antics going on in the main section of the restaurant and the kids would really enjoy them.

If you do end up sitting in the smaller section, you can still see the main area, it is just a bit removed. Tell your server that the kids still want to join in the Pony Express and stuff but you will probably get to avoid the great ketchup shuffle!

You might need to add this request to your ADRs or speak to someone beyond the normal CM who makes the ADRs at Disney Dining.

I think you made a wonderful choice for a fun and yummy dinner and the resort, while beautiful year round, is AMAZING during the holidays.
