Its been several months since I posted. The remodel on our extreme home is VERY slow going. No pictures yet, but I promise I'll get some up as soon as the kitchen is done, which could take as little as a few months.
Were doing an extreme Disney kitchen.
I had originally said it would be a Disney Candy themed room, but we decided to narrow it to just simply Disney animation.
For flooring we found a VERY expensive flooring that is BRIGHT purple with 3-D colored glitter chunks. It changes color depending on where you are standing in reguards to light. From solid white, to midnight blue with twinkling stars, to purple, and at one point it looks fusha. Took 6 months and hundreds of calls and searching, but we FINALLY found the PERFECT FLOOR! Its half paid for, and will be in and done by late next week. You just gotta see it to believe it. We only have a sample now. Cant wait to see it installed!!!
The counter tops are brushed bright purple. Walls, so far just bright pure white. We found some Disney book ends for our huge cookbook collection (originally $45 EACH at WDW, yardsale price= $10.00 for both, like new!) and thats an important point, because we use the cookbooks a LOT. If we ate out we couldnt afford to go to Disney 4 times a year!!! We are replacing all the cabinet handles (All 28 of them) with Disney characters. Most are from McD Happy Meals, or just little toys. Drill a hole or two, and mount them up. Were finding them for as cheap as 6 for a dollar at yardsales and flea markets. Were shooting for a variety, with villans included. So far we have Mr Incredible, Baby Jack Jack, Mike Schelosky (?), Captn Hook? (The pirate on Peter Pan), Mufasa, That blue bear... whats his name... (not the one with the big house! The other one) Im not good with names, my wife knows all these. Woody, Francis (ladybug on Bugs Life), etc. We DEFINATELY want Sora (Kingdom Hearts) Hopper( bugs life) Nemo, Figment, Incrediboy, Hades, and of course Mickey, Donald, & Goofy. Ive gotta have patience..... This takes time finding the right ones. I like the 25 cent prices of used ones too! Im too cheap to give retail prices!!!
We hand pulled (pryed, cut, crowbar-ed, and all but cussed at) 3 layers of linoleum tonight to prepare the floor. NEVER BUY PEEL & STICK TILES AT LOWES!!!! CRAP! Just CRAP!
Its kinda cool walking through the empty echoing room.
Anyways, theres much more, but Im back hoping someone can help me out again. I copied all the ideas last time and saved them. Now I need more help. One wall in our kitchen is going to look like a whimsical house. We started as Pooh's house, but realized, his was just a tree with a door. We need a house thats got a strange; unusual shaped door, (twisted, or odd sized) http://kidsworldplay.com/swingsets_etc/treehouses.html http://www.spiritelements.com/ProductDetail.aspx?c=1324&p=2492 and a single window to the left. Any suggestions??? Any internet pictures you can toss at me??? The house we have in mind will be our small pantry, and the doors of the house are the doors to the pantry. The window to the upper left will be between our kitchen and a laundry room. We figure on oversized. beaten up painted wood, and the window has to have a backlit yellow glow. (easily done by yellow plexiglass) oversized window panes in planks, and lighting at the doors. We want one wall to really be the outside of a miniature house. Complete with porch lights, a ringing bell, a tulip bush on each side bottom, and the doors need to have windows in them too, which will be chalkboards. (We use our kitchen chalkboards religiously. They're a must). Anyone out there know what house were describing? We dont! We just have a picture we drew each on paper, and cant seem to match it to anything. We cant find anything online, so we came here for advise. Our next trip is booked for September, and we cant wait that long. We want the kitchen done long before that. Any ideas? all are welcome if they are friendly.
Mostly we just need pictures for ideas. We cant find any online.

BTW, We really are doing all this. This isnt made up. Our den is a rainforest, and people come by just to see it. Its fun. Life is supposed to be interesting.
