Need more disk space !! opinions?

I have a collection of (mostly cheesy) photo editing and scrapbooking programs loaded into my laptop. I recently was surprise gifted Adobe photoshop elements 8. I am beyond psyched, and will now begin the process of self educating myself on the new program. However, with the installation of the new program, I have exhausted available storage space in my C: drive. So Now, I am faced with several options on how to proceed. I can
1. Have my laptop "worked on" to add more memory
2. Buy an external hard drive
3. quit using my laptop and use my stationary pc.

If I buy an EHD, seemingly best choice, do I load photoshop into that, and leave the space in my C: drive for my photos, and downloaded digital element files? Or... opposite, keep photos and element materials on the EHD?

Just wondering if anybody had an opinion.

p.s. I downloaded photos and digital scrapbooking elements onto disks and deleted files last night which gave me NO space at all. It's obviously all the programs I have loaded thats hogging up the space. (It's about 4 or 5 programs). I really don't want to delete any of them because I use them all for a "little something" each, that I will still be using until I become more proficient at pse8.

I download my photos to external hard drives - I actually have two drives - and download them to both. One travels with the laptop and one lives by the pc.

After I have organize and printed what photos i'm going to, I clean them off the computer to leave space for fresh ones.

You may also wish to have a second hard drive installed in your computer, if you have so little space that 5 programs leaves it full. But I would take the photos off anyway.
