We have yet,a new plan, one that looks to have more staying power.

Instead of going and doing "orlando theme parks", we are going to go and do Disney World for a week. That frees up some $$, so we are trying to decide on a moderate resort. I've seen a ton of Disneys pictures and description, but I trust ya'll more.

So I need opinins good or bad on Carabbian (sp?) coranodo springs, New Orleans french quarter, new orleans riverside.?

I'm having a really hard time decidingm, your help will be so appreciated.

I'm a big fan of CBR. Just got back from a 1 week stay, and I will go back again. I didn't care for the foodcourt selection of food though, but they have many tables outside to eat at, and I liked that. The grounds are beautiful, and mousekeeping is great.

I also like POR, especially the boat ride to DTD. Overall, CBR is my favorite. I have stayed at AKL and ASMO, and still CBR is tops for me.

We just got back too. This was our 8th trip to CSR and we still love it just as much as our first time back in 1998.

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with 3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to the ranchos
High speed internet service
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades

THE CONS
Full size beds
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.
Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests in suits. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty.

My DS14 and DS11 and a 13-year old friend and I were just at Caribbean Beach Resort 4/2-4/8 -- we loved it! We stayed in Martinique 2549 (preferred section) and it was well worth it. We had a beach right outside our building, and were just a few steps from the food court, etc. My kids really enjoyed the food court a lot, and I liked it too. Bus service was good, and we had a lot of fun on the beach, in the pools, and the boys went out in Sea Raycers (boats) on the lake.

It's a great resort for a Dad and 3 kids like us -- but I'm sure the other moderates are great too. I wanted to try CSR next, but my kids insist on returning to CBR -- they really loved it!

Welcome to the DIS, Darcy!

All of the moderate resorts are very nice, and you would probably be happy at any of them. It's really a matter of preference--which one suits your family best.

I have stayed at all of the moderates at least once, and my favorite is the Port Orleans French Quarter. It is so bright, and whimsical! It's about half the size of the other moderates, so it's a lot more managable. Even from the most remote rooms, you'll only be about a 5-7 minute walk to the food court and bus stop (some of the rooms at the other resorts can be a hike to the food court--the room I was in at the Carribbean Beach was a 15 minute walk to the food court).

Have fun planning.

Karen

Our favorite is Coronado Springs but we also recommend Caribbean Beach. Both are great resorts with beautiful grounds, great theming and very Disney!

we have stayed at PO-R and CBR. We will be returning to CBR in November. I Thought the bus service and pool were nicer at CBR, and did not like the food court at PO at all.

I'm a big fan of PO Riverside. I prefer the Mansion section(Parterre Place feels like my home away from home!), but alot of families like the Alligator Bayou side - this is also the only moderate resort that allows a family of 5 as there is a trundle bed in most of the AB rooms.

The main pool is great, with it's slide and hot tub, but the quiet pools are very nice, too. The food court is easy to get through and never a long wait to check-out, with plenty of seating.

If you want a more quiet, relaxing place, stay at Riverside. We stayed @ POFQ and just did not care for it at all.

Don't get me wrong, the people @ POFQ were great, it just didn't feel righyt to my wife and I.

Just my 2 cents.

We love CBR! We are going to CBR June 22nd thru June 30th and can't wait. This is our fourth time at CBR. My kids don't want to stay anywhere else. We love the beautiful tropical themeing and sandy beaches with hammocks. My teenage daughters love the feeding the ducks, too. We usually stay in Jamaica, Building 44 or 45. It is a short walk across a bridge to the food court and main pool. We have stayed in Martinique, Building 24 or 25 before but now it costs extra so we don't request that any more. We like the variety of food in the food court, and we have always had very good bus service. We like the main pool alot but we also like the quiet pools in each of the villages. The rooms are really a nice size for us (4 women), and we have more than enough room for all of our stuff. There are fridges and coffee makers in the rooms. We just really love everything about CBR. Good luck on your choice! :sunny:

We just got back from CSR and loved it. We stayed in Cabanas 8A waterfront view and it was great. It was our second time there and by far our favorite. The buildings are so colorful and the grounds are very tropical and beautiful. The rooms are larger than some of the other moderates and the place is very clean. Our second favorite was POR and least favorite was CBR, still have to try POFQ.

Background: our group is two adults, two almost-three-year-olds.
I'm going to call my travel agent tomorrow and ask her to upgrade our POP ressie, to the cheapest moderate room (e.g., not a preferred view or location), and the price for a room with a trundle bed at POR if such is available.

We know we don't want CBR; we'd book that if it were the only moderate available and keep calling for openings at CSR or POFW/POR later. (My husband HATES the beach, so anything beach-y is out)

Given that our priorities are restaurants, a refrigerator, and kid-friendliness, does anyone have anything to say about Coronado Springs resort versus Port Orleans French quarter versus Port Orleans Riverside?

I can't remember at the moment which of the Port Orleans resorts is closer to the restaurants which they share.
Basically, I guess this comes down to Maya's/Pepper Market versus Boatright's/Sassalousa(sp?), whatever the pools/lounging options are,and bus options. DH likes the idea of staying in something "less Disney-fied", but I'm not sure about the location of CSR versus PO.

Thoughts welcomed.

We also want recommendations on which would be best...POR, PRFQ or CBR. We have a 4 month old so don't want to do a lot of walking and a 5 year old who loves to swim and do all kinds of activities. It has to be one of those 3 because we are doing a cruise afterwards and they only pick up from those 3 moderates. :flower:

Between POR and POFQ, only POR has a table service and a food court. POFQ only has a food court. That being said if you prefer a more compact mardi gras feel, it's only a 15 min boat ride or 10 min walk between the resorts. Plus, it's only a 20 min boat ride to DTD which has restaurants galore. We have only stayed at POR but we did visit POFQ for some legal pool hopping. I liked the peacefulness of POR, but lots of people complain if you get in a "remote" bldg, you have to walk. Our walk was never too bad, we stayed twice. I had no idea the first time to ask for any certain bldg, the second time I requested 14 and got 16, which was nice and close too. POR has a more deep south, lush landscape feel, kind of Tom Sawyer-ish, which we really enjoyed for relaxing after a busy day in the park. Also at POR you have several quiet pools as well as the main pool. I can't comment on the other moderates since I've never stayed at or visited any of them, but it does seem that each resort has several people who loyally love each resort, so I guess they all have to be pretty nice.

CBR sounds like the lots of fun for the 5 year old...ducks, white sand, etc. Which of POR,POFQ and CBR have the best pool?

Both of the Port Orleans hotels have cool pools with a slide. The French Quarter is small and very compact. Very nice, we just stayed there. There is a food court, but no sit down restaurant. The Riverside has a food court and sit down restaurant (we took the boat to it from French Quarter one night). Both are on the river. The grounds of Riverside are beautiful, but it is very spread out. You would probably want to pinpoint a couple buildings to request, though no guarantees, if you wanted to be near the food court, etc. We are considering Riverside for our next trip. It has 4 bus stops, French Quarter has one. Bus stops first at French Quarter and then goes to Riverside and stops at all stops until the bus is filled. French Quarter is the first drop off at night and often you have the whole bus (don't share with Riverside).

We really liked POFQ. It's the smallest of the resorts so there is not a whole lot of walking. The food court was pretty good, and I loved the themeing! I would definitely recommend it again!

Hi Darcy.

For us the Coronado Springs is the place. We've been to all four moderates and enjoyed them all, but we liked the overall experience of CS the best. Also, the food court is the best (again, our opinion) out of all of them.

Any way you choose - you'll have a great time at any of the moderates.

Enjoy your trip!

Another vote for CSR - my favorite moderate. As far as location of CSR compared to PO, CSR is very convenient to all the parks. It's much more centrally located than most people realize. It's very close to Epcot, MGM, and AK. MK is the farthest, but CSR is located just off the exit from the main road that goes to MK, so even the longest trip of the 4 parks is fairly quick. And the bus stops for CSR at the parks are very convenient! It's the first stop at MK.

these posts are really helping everyone. :goodvibes

Now, to narrow things further who has the biggest rooms CBR or CSR?

Refrigeraters in the room CBR or CSR?

Best pool for kids (slides and such)?

Does either have water access to the parks or to anywhere?

Where is the parasailing at?

Thanks all!!!!!!!!
