Need men's opinions: serene romance at SSR or fun & action romance at BWV?

I'm having the most horrible time deciding between these two resorts for a short (4 nights), romantic, surprise trip for my DH in early Feb.

I want us to be able to visit all the WDW DVC resorts to check them out, but both resorts seem to be convenient locations to do this.

SSR is shiny and new with beautiful grounds, new rooms/ new pool/new everything, and sounds very serene and quiet, which can be very romantic for a couple.

BWV is in the middle of the action, right next to Epcot (which I want to see while we're there since we won't have the kids) with fun activites right there on the boardwalk like Jellyrolls, ESPN, magicians, musicians, and all this can be romantic as well.

So what do you men like more:

romance with quiet and serenity?

...or...

romance with fun and action?

I need some male perspective for this one! :thumbsup2

Being a man. Not to generalize. I think most of us would prefer BWV. For the following reasons:
- ESPN
- Restaurants and bars in EPCOT
- The boardwalk
- Nicer Pools
- Better Restaurants
- Nice walks around the lake
...

DTD is great but almost as easy to get to from BWV as SSR if you have a car.

I asked DH for his opinion and he picked BWV, hands down.

I don't think you'd have a bad time at either location, of course, but in DH's opinion, BWV is just more intertesting, more romantic, and more fun. Of course, just an opinion, but BWV really does have much more to offer than SSR.

Book the BWV, You'll love the diversity of the location. It really has it all. :wizard:

Well as a man I would take BWV because it seems to be a mans resort with the ESPN and so forth.

But if you really want romance (men could really care less) then SSR with a couples massage is the way to go .Try to get a nice DTD view location and you will be all set.

SSR is a wonderful resort and brand new and is fastly growing into it's own.

:lmao: I know, I know...men could really care less. That's why I wanted men's opinions. This is a romantic trip for my awesome DH, and if watching some sports in ESPN while drinking a beer with your wife/girlfriend is what you guys find romantic, then that's what I'll do!

You know what I mean...romance from a guys perspective. A little dream trip with him in mind.

Thanks for all the responses so far. I love to read them. Sounds like BWV is the place the guys love! :thumbsup2

If she was taking me for a romantic trip, it wouldn't matter for me which resort. She couldn't go wrong either way. We enjoy going over to DTD as much as we like Epcot.

If it was the other way around, and I was planning a romantic trip for my wife, I would pick SSR. Rquest DTD view. Make reservations just for her at the spa for pedicure & manicure. Make reservations for couple massage. Have reservation at Yachtsman Steak House or Californis Grille. And the last piece of the evening would be a Carriage ride after dinner!

My DH would choose the BWV over any resort, romantic trip or not! :goodvibes

DW & I have been married 31 years and the kids (2) have been out of the nest for about 5 years. We are 49. We have taken many, many trips of all kinds. I think for sheer romance, quiet, and time alone together, the best trips are to the national parks. A trip to any WDW resort (not including VB or HHI) can certainly be romantic, but the atmosphere is primarily designed for celebration and external enjoyment. So If I'm choosing between SSR and BWV I would choose BWV. Please don't misunderstand me, DW and I have had many romantic times at the (WDW) resorts, but if you're looking for a romantic vacation then VB/HHI or a national park is your best bet. JMHO. :thumbsup2

BW hands down!
From the man's perspective -- what could be better? Think about it...

'The perfect setup'....he can:

Grab a six pack from the screen door,
walk a few feet and stop in the gym to lift heavy weights and grunt alot, then
continue a few more feet and find large quanities of meat to consume while watching other grunting guys on TV and consume more beer while screaming like a school girl.... all within the space of a football field... Priceless!

You're right, nothing could be better than that! I can see this senerio in my mind, only for some reason, as I imagine this, my DH looks a lot like Tim 'The Tool Man' Taylor. :happytv:

I completely agree... I would prefer BWV over SSR.. (If the trip was for me..)

One more thing to add... IMHO... BWV has the better poolside bar with Leaping Libations...

From a guys perspective, there is nothing more romantic than a morning out on a championship golf course, that happens to be right outside your room, while your wife is still sleeping for at least the first nine holes.

:lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Massages can be had at the Beach Club too-- followed by a romantic walk around the lake back to your room....

If my wife planned it, I really wouldn't care which DVC resort we stayed at. Each has its own charm and allure.

Besides, romance is more about the couple involved than the location. :)

I want us to be able to visit all the WDW DVC resorts to check them out, but both resorts seem to be convenient locations to do this.
With its proximity to DTD, SSR is clearly the more convenient place for resort-hopping....assuming you get a room close enough to walk to the buses at DTD.

I'm going the opposite way on this one and taking SSR over BWV. It's quiet and serene all right, but it's a short walk to DTD. In fact, depending on where your room is at SSR vs. your room at BWV, it could be a shorter walk to DTD than to the Boardwalk itself.

Plus I like Raglan Road, Disney Quest, Bongo's, Earl of Sandwich, etc., etc. more than the equivalent Boardwalk joints. While I like BWV's proximity to Epcot, the activities on the Boardwalk itself don't do much for me. Yeah, I like ESPN, but it's always too crowded.

And this is coming from someone that owns BWV points, BTW.

If my wife planned a trip to WDW I would DROP DEAD with surprise so it really wouldn't matter because she would have to cancel to go to my funeral.

I'm with those above who say it wouldn't matter to me that much. And to give a different spin: I discovered I do like romance -- when I found out what it really is. :smokin: And I'm not talking " :love2: " or Cinderella.

I would probably pick SSR because we would have fewer distractions and could TALK (I assume it's like OKW in that respect which we love). And I like DTD a lot. And I've never stayed there.

If my wife booked supper every night in EPCOT then (if I didn't die a second time when I heard about it) I would pick BCV. I'd save BWV for the kids.
