My DS7 decided this week that he wants to be Pikachu (the yellow, most common Pokemon). We have a character hat he can use, but I need solid yellow pants and a shirt. Yellow shirts are all over the place, but pants are not.

I don't really want to shell out a fortune for expedited shipping. Anyone know any actual stores that might carry kids yellow pants, sweats, pajama bottoms??? Or anything that I can make work. I've not found any local places that sell Pikachu costumes, only online for $50+ :scared1:. That is why we are making a costume.:headache:

have you tried the girls department for leggings? They tend to come in bright colors (though not as often in this time of year it is still a possibility). Good luck:goodvibes

Target has some plain women's knit lounge pants in yellow for about $9. You could buy a small size and cut them off.

If you can sew at all it is very easy to make a pr. of elastic-waist kids pants. 4 pieces, cut out as two double cuts. I can do a pr in 30 minutes with boxer elastic and a machine hem. He could wear them later for pj's.

PS: Did you try Party America? They have a Pikachu on their website for $20, and it looks like you have 3 stores in KC.

Thrift store, craft store, dollar store... (Dollar Tree usually carries Tshirts and sweatshirts)

Ok, here are some ideas...

When Halloween rolls around Thrift Stores are your friend.
Go to WalMart or Target or an athletic-supplies/clothing store(Dick's, Modell's) and check out their girl's department for sweatpants/leggings/gym shorts in bright colors.
Can you buy something cheap and appropriate in a white and then dye it shocking yellow?
Are there any local high schools/colleges/universities that have yellow as one of their school colors? Can you maybe get some pants through their stores or boosters?

agnes!
PS - Thrift stores are also your friend when you have to do costumes for a play on the cheap.

Buy white sweat pants at WalMart for $5 and some yellow RIT dye. Voila! :goodvibes

This doesn't always work with synthetic blends like sweat shirts/pants. I once bought a white hoodie sweat shirt and pants for DS when he was 3-he wanted to be Patrick Starfish, and it turned out kind of light pink instead of the dark coral that was on the box. The synthetic fabric doesn't take up the dye as easily as cotton. But for $5, I guess it's worth a try.

or if it doesn't matter too much- Rain gear.
my DD has a rain suit- coat and pants that are bright yellow! her's is a columbia so it is sturdier tha just the $1.00 poncho's

and it has the bonus of being useful if it rains

Thanks for the ideas. I've thought of dying white pants, but no one is selling them right now (that I can find). I've checked several thrift stores with no luck. Did find a great shirt, but no luck on pants. And have been checking all mens/womens/girls/pajamas everywhere I've gone. Did not think of rain gear, will keep that in mind.

I've thought of sports stores with colored uniforms. Haven't yet checked that.

I think I will try Party America first (Haven't checked them) and then try Target's women next. I checked Target kids, mens and girls but don't remember checking womens. I've of course been quickly shopping when I can squeeze in a few minutes since I've had two sick kids this whole time.:headache:

My last resort is to make a pair, but I don't really sew. I'm sure worse case I can whip something together to make it through the night.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was running out of ideas (and time:rolleyes1).

Check Kohl's. DS saw Spongebob Pj's he liked there...the Top was a huge spongebob head and the pants were plain yellow. Ours didn't have many sizes left, but you might have better luck.

worst comes to worst, a pair of old pants and a can of bright yellow spray paint!

or for that matter, a pair of shorts and the can of spray paint!

RUM?

Rum is good!

Called Party America, they do not carry the costume in stock. I was ready to order it online and pay expedited shipping but the largest size is the size he is and most costumes run small, so I'm afraid I'd get it in and it be too small. He is tall for his age.

Called a sports store. They don't have anything.

I'm going to go hit Kohls after school. I have not checked there.

Spray Paint. Hhhmmm. Not a bad idea.

I just love Halloween!:rolleyes1
