Need information about blue lagoon beach day and dolphin encounter

I booked the blue lagoon beach day for our family, but am now thinking of adding the dolphin encounter for our five year old and my husband. We will also have a two year old along, he is too young for the encounter (three is the age they are allowed) so I would much rather take him to the nearby beach to play than have him see what he is missing out on. I am thinking of re-booking all of us, two with the dolphin encounter and two as observers since this will be cheaper. My first question is, if you sign up as an observer do you actually need to observe, or can you just go your own way? My second question is, do you get as much time on the island with the dolphin encounter as the beach day? I would really hate to miss out on beach time. We have the full day booked right now, and our ship still has the AM dolphin spot open. Also, it seems like you don't get lunch with the encounter, how much is lunch at blue lagoon? The beach day is more, but it includes lunch and use of some of the inflatables. One more question, if we go the route of two signed up for dolphin excursion and two for blue lagoon beach day, will we be on the same boat over?
TIA

We did the dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon this past July. We did the morning time slot. Between meeting at the designated spot on the ship, waiting outside the ship, waiting for the boat, getting on the boat and finally getting underway, it was after 11 before we got to the island. I don't know if that is normal or not, but it seemed like it took a really long time to me! Lunch is not included with the encounter. We didn't stay afterwards, but we could have checked out the beach/island. We were all anxious to get back to the ship and took the first boat. If I remember correctly there were 3 boats back to the ship, at 1 PM, 2 PM, and 4 PM. On our boat there were people there for the beach day and the dolphins.

We did the morning encounter and then spent the rest of the time at the beach. It was very nice. You could definitely just go over to the beach and skip watching the encounter. We bought lunch ala cattle and the prices were not bad at all. It seems like if you bought the buffet it was $20. As it turns out a couple came over to us and had 2 extra vouchers for the buffet that their friends weren't using so they gave them to us. We had a ton of food.

We only did the beach day, which we enjoyed. We thought, though, that the food was really bad. I would recommend having a good breakfast on the ship, bringing some pre-packaged snacks with you and plan on eating a late lunch when you get back on the ship.

I agree the food was awful!

I was not impressed with blue Lagoon it seemed ran down, next time we are planning to stay on the ship.

Jessica, I will upload our video of the dolphin encounter for you. We had a blast. Not as much time as we wanted, but still was a lot of fun.

It is still processing, so if if isn't up when you click the link, try later.

We only got like 8 minutes with the dolphins, not 15, but we still had a blast.
