Hi

My dream is to go on the Halloween Disney Cruise, but I have a couple of questions for those of you who cruise in October. I have to choose between these dates: Sat., Oct 23 through Oct. 30, and Oct. 31 through Nov. 6. Does Disney do anything special for Halloween on the ship? Would it be better to cruise on the week leading up to Oct. 31 or the week of Oct. 31? Years ago my family and I went to Disney World at Halloween, and it was the most fun vacation we'd ever had. Or should we forget the whole cruise thing and plan to spend the week at the Magic Kingdom? Any input you can give me would be appreciated.

Halloween on the ship is really fun. The boat is decorated in orange and black. We went in 2002 on the 7-day Western and Halloween was on Semi-formal night. They didn't care if you dressed up or not. Many adults went to dinner in costumes. Some folks on this website are planning Trick-or-treating for the kids.

I have also been on the magic for halloween, and we had Oct 31st as a sea day.

A lot of people dressed up, adults as well as kids, and we had our costums as we had been ot the Mickey halloween party at MK.

There was a kids parade at 3pm in the atrim and there was also an adults parade at 10pm.

The trick and treating was very crowded in a limited area, and whilst my kids were able ot get some sweets, in the end i took them back to the pool which was empty, straight away after the kids parade, and purchased sweets from the shops later.

They had face painting and a lot of the CM 's were dressed up as pirates and a number of Disney characters were in costume as well.

It was enjoyable, but crowded and I would have suggested using more of the ship, meeting in the beat street bars was small, the Walt Disney theatre, would have been a better location with the kids coming up on deck.

I just watched our video again on this night, and my DS was in a vampire tigger costume, and got a large annoucement as he came out, my DD was as Curela Da'vil.

Lots of very good customs were worn, but it gets hot on deck and in the resturants,

Thanks to each of you who gave me input on the Halloween Cruise. I really appreciate it. I'm still undecided whether or not to go since my husband and I are "empty nesters,"and the grandchildren are too young to go alone with us on a cruise. It seems that the activites are geared toward the children which is fine because I love watching them, and I'm a child at heart. That's why I like Halloween. More specifically, what I need to know, I guess, is if any of the live entertainment and movies, for example, are geared to Halloween, and if it's a week long celebration or if Halloween on the ship is celebrated only on Oct. 31. I think I'd rather spend a week at Walt Disney World if the latter is the case since I don't have children to dress up or take "trick-or-treating." I need to make my decision this week, and I've already had some good input. Can anyone answer this last e-mail?

Thanks so much!

The celebration on the 7-day was only on Halloween, October 31st. There were other small events for Halloween, but no shows, movies, etc. Magic Kingdom does celebrate with the MNSSH (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween) longer than just one day. Perhaps this would be better for you this time around. We are planning another Halloween cruise just because we liked to get away at that time of year.

Donna, There is thread out there for those of us who are going on the 7 night Magic at Halloween. (I'm going too!)

It's a great place to ask questions and there are many there who have been before. Some with kids and some (like me) without kids. Actually I'm married to one really big kid!!!

Hope this helps!!
