I am looking for some information about Republican Wireless. We have a heavy Sprint area for connections. I love the price and have no problem buying a new phone, but I am concerned about not being able to transfer my current number to a new phone. I am hesitant to buy a new phone and a package and not have my current cell number transferable, but I do not want to put all that money into something that would not work. I currently have Straight Talk through Walmart and pay $50/mos which I think is too much. I do not think I can use my Samsung phone that I have now. I am so confused.
TIA for the help. I am so confused.

All of your questions are answered on the Republic Wireless website...and no, you don't have to be a republican to sign up.

Has anyone used Republic Wireless? We are looking for a cheaper cell option but wonder how good the coverage and service is with Republic.

I was a customer of Republic Wireless. It is a real company and the prices r good. One thing to remember is most of their CS is through email and there is help in the community forum for some things. I had an older phone not the one they r currently selling. I live in an area that has poor sprint coverage....working from home using wifi for calls was no problem, when I got a new job with call I needed service on cell that sprint in my location cannot provide. If I lived where sprint has good coverage I would have stayed. If you can figure out most tech stuff with a little coaching you will probably have no problem, getting live person help isn't easy, so if you depend on that you may not care for the service. Browse around their website on the community forum and you will see what I mean.

My husband and I have been using Republic Wireless since December and couldn't be happier. My husband transferred his number with no problems. The initial phone number I received I was not happy with, but after letting them know the issues they switched me over to a new number. It actually is kind of nice to communicate through emails rather than sit on hold forever. We love the MOTO X phones. Just make sure you have good coverage in your area.

Thanks for the input. I read on another website that the service is based on Sprint but will roam to Verizon for free if Sprint coverage is not available. In your experience is this true? We had Verizon before and we were very happy with their coverage area. If it is only based on Sprint coverage, that could be an problem for us.

I've been using Republic Wireless since December.

No problems. Transferred our numbers from AT&T.

It hasn't effected me but you can see some discussion on the issue on their forums. The service will transfer to Verizon towers if there is no Sprint coverage where you are at. However it will not always transfer to Verizon if there is bad or weak Sprint coverage where you are at. I've seen some people talk about having problems with that.

Really the only answer is that you need to try it to see if you like the service in the areas you use your phone. Thus, their 30 day return policy. Make sure you keep all your packaging and the phones in good condition.

Is Republican Wireless the one that only works if you hold the phone to your right ear? ;)
