need info about playstation

I need some info about the online friends network with playstation 3...I may be a worry wort but my ds12 came home from his dads and said he wanted to use his phone to call his "friends" after asking him about it I find out these "friends' are between 21 and 30 yrs of age.I am not ok with this.He told me he told one of these people what town he lives in.Does anyone know about this? I am thinking about calling the local SO computer unit to see if they need to talk to him.He said his dad knows he is doing this,but his dad is not known for being such a great parent.

1. YES it is possible to chat away and give out as much personal information as you want.

2. My kids are not allowed to be online with a microphone UNLESS it is with friends that they know IN REAL LIFE. Friends from school ect.

3. There is no need for a 12 year old to be talking on there.

4. If he doesn't have rules about it how is he expected to understand what he can and can not do.

My kids are all aware of the NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION. Ever! And the one time my son did give out info(it turned out to really be a kid) he lost his priveleges on the computer for a month. He got the point.

I agree with you...this is going on at my exs house, I do not let my kids play anything but wii sports...thats it.I thought you had to be a certain age for this? I do not allow my kids on the internet without me watching and only for school...they are just to young.I spoke with his dad and he said yeh he knew he was playing and talking to these people! He has no brain...I told him this was going to stop and I still may go to someone to put a stop to it if he will not.

On the Playstation it's not that "social" like the XBOX is. Not many have the headset for Playstation. I would find out a little more about the conversation with my son. Just ask ?'s like how did you talk about where you were from.

Honestly when my DH is playing and kids come on they watch the language and generally ignore them. Someone looking to chat up a 12 year old raises red flags. unless they don't know he's 12. But why was he giving out phone numbers?
And the ex well at least he's an ex.

I would tell the ex that you don't want him using the bluetooth. He doesn't need to chat to play. Tell him to grow a pair and make some rules. (ok don't say that but that's what I would say)

he was using the keyboard to talk up until now...he said he got a mic to use now...from his world tour game.
