Need Inexpensive Disney Breakfast Ideas

If you don't mind camping out in the food court for a few minutes utilize their equipment. They have toasters and microwaves that work great. The first time I was a little self conscious bringing my own but quickly realized nobody really notices and the ones that do may just be jealous that they didn't think of it. :confused3 a ten minute excursion for one to the food court can save lots of $ and stress in the am for the whole family.
my mom is a big protein eater so she always brings a package of little smokies or precooked sausage patties. when I go to fill our mugs in the am I just take a paper bowl filled with that and use the food court microwave. I also take little bagels and toast them at the same time. with cream cheese back in the room it works great.
you can also microwave eggs for a quick omelet or make a bagel sandwich.

Google microwave breakfast recipes- I just saw a couple I would like to try. I usually make a breakfast casserole and reheat it in the micro the next day but it looks like you can just make it in the micro if you wanted it fresh. I also make extra french toast or waffles to bring, those can go in the toaster as well.

most things take only 5 min or less in the microwave so if you dont mind waiting it is a great option. I can usually drink one cup of coffee while I wait and refill for the walk back.

Just remember to take microwaveable containers and a bag to carry it in, and of course covering your food while cooking is much easier than cleaning the micro after. :thumbsup2 even the smallest, driest things can splatter.:scared1: I learned that the hard way one sleepy morning.

have fun!

I'm curious....Why aren't you on the free dining? Is that too personal?
Is there a better code to use during that time?
thanks,

We'll be on the last days of our annual pass so we have a great annual pass room only rate. The only way we can make this trip work is to "eat cheap", so that's what we're trying to do.

We get a box of donuts from the gift shop for $3 or $4 and it lasts the three of us three quick breakfasts. We usually throw some of them away because we get tried of the same thing.

I have done oatmeal packets when it was just dh & I since we didn't have to drag the kids to Captain Cooks to heat up the water/oats.

Normally we do cereal & I bring 2 kinds, one the kids choose & one I choose. I bring a box of pop tarts & one year I brought bagels & we ate them at room temp.

I have brought butter (OK soy butter, ds is allergic to dairy) from home last year. I put in in our checked luggage in a cooler with an ice pack. It stayed cold!

I get milk/soy milk/OJ from the store at the Poly & we are all set.

I don't know what others do, but I always pack foods and snacks in my luggage and then that space becomes souvenir space on the return trip. Today I was shopping and found mini boxes of cereal cheap!! I also bring microwave popcorn and use the food court microwaves. And bring your own oatmeal. When we get to Disney we just need to buy perishables.

We've stayed at POR FQ before and I don't remember seeing a microwave & toaster, but it makes sense that there's one there. Can anyone confirm?

I'm not sure where it is in the FQ side, but it took me a few to find it on Riverside. It's all the way on the far side of the foodcourt next to the hallway to the bathroom. There's nothing useful on the beverage island.
Unlike at POP or All Stars that have microwaves/toasters on every island with the sodas.

And I have made several meals at food courts. Just be carefull of the mircowaves with the numbers 1-10 going down. 1=15 second 2=30sec 3=1minute sort of thing, and they're pretty high wattage, so you might want to knock off an extra minute or something so you don't overcook anything. Better to keep adding, because you can't take away.

You could get a danish strip at the grocery store. I usually get them for about $4 on sale. Not as cheap as some things but a tasty alternative which will give you an alternative to cereal.

Microwaved granola and milk is a neat alternative to Oatmeal.

You could also do a coffee cake. Make it at home and bring it with you or buy one at the grocery store. My mom has a great one called orange kiss me cake which has orange juice in it - yummy.

Bagels with cream cheese even if the bagel isn't toasted are still yummy.

If you don't like boxed donuts according to UG there is a Dunkin Donuts just outside the resort. Dunkin Donuts also sell bagels, croissants, breakfast sandwiches, coffee rolls and danish.

Yes, you can bring a toaster to Disney. That's what my family does (except for this year, when it's just me going, and only taking carry-on luggage.)

We're taking Pop-tarts and maybe some Nutri-grain bars. Nothing much, because we're going to eat early lunches in the parks, and there are always snacks that I want to try! (Mmm, Dole Whips)

i love oatmeal. i'd bring a little brown sugar, raisens and walnuts along to fix it up. even instant oatmeal is great with a little extra help :-)

i have found hard boiled eggs already cooked in the dairy section at the grocers. they are great for breakfast and quick snacks. at home, i have made them into egg salad or used them for deviled eggs.

fruit salad is great in the morning with cottage cheese. even canned fruit such as peaches, pineapple or mandarin oranges is good with cottage cheese.

what about those pre made frozen breakfast croissant sandwiches that you microwave ? i would think kids would love those. pop tarts are good. special k bars. granola bars. cheese sticks. yogurt .

My kids love the Breakfast Cookies made by Quaker. You can find them in the aisle with granola bars. The directions on the box say you can microwave them, but my kids love them just the way they are. I only buy them for disney so they are a special treat. A breakfast cookie and a banana is very filling.

We usually bring some breakfast cookies, special k bars, kashi bars, rice krispie treats, cheese sticks, fruit cups, bananas, gogurts, cereal, parmalat milk boxes (don't need to be refridgerated until opened), bagels, cream cheese, pb and jelly, and bread. AND this year, I WILL bring my own coffee! I always think I can get by with the nasty coffee from the food court and EVERY year I regret not bringing my own. :scared1:

We do cereal with milk (or without), bagels, pop tarts, cereal bars, quaker oatmeal sqaures or instant oatmeal, and we always buy donuts (a treat!).

Not only do we eat breakfast in our room @ Disney, but we do it when ever we travel now. its just easier (IMO with kids), and WAY more cost effective!

Enjoy your trip!

We are doing DDP this year but we eat most of our breakfasts in our room. Once we get closer to the end of our trip and realize how many CS we have left then we start eating at the food courts! And we always do one TS on our last day. Thiis year we're doing 'Ohana's again. It's our last day and we don't do the parks. I have scheduled 2 other TS breakfasts but we'll have to see if we actually make those.

Back to your question-we don't drive down but we fly and rent a car so we make a stop at Super Walmart for breakfast items, water, and Diet Coke. We bring a toaster (actually I run a fridge swap that has one). If the toaster is missing I'll pick up another one for about $7. We are not big breakfast eaters (especially DD9) and so here's what we get for breakfast:

Poptarts
Bagels and/or English muffins
Bread for toast
Fresh Fruit
Peanut Butter & Jelly
Cereal-we usually get Frosted Mini Wheats-we all like them and they make a great snack as well.
Milk (though DD eats hers dry.)
Donuts (sometimes-I mean we are on vacation!)
Croissant for DD
Activia yogurt for DGM

When DD was smaller I would bring the smaller boxes of cereal-they worked out great since she wasn't that interested in eating when she first got up (3 hr. time difference between FL and CA). So I would grab 1 or 2 boxes to take to the parks. She could easily eat them in the stroller and the also had the added benefit of keeping her occupied while we waited for DGM to get off ToT. She would feed some to the birds in the outside waiting area.

Eating in the room works well for us. It saves us time in the a.m. (already mentioned time change) and we'll be ready for a nice CS lunch in a few hours.

Last year we had a coffee maker (actually 2) in our fridge swap and I would make my DM her cup of coffee with the Senseo one. Without a coffee maker she grabs a cup in the food court. She doesn't seem to mind it. With the coffee maker (hot pot to some) I'll also make hot tea if I want it in the a.m. So I bring tea bags and Equal for that.

You could also get fruit rollups, fruit chews, juice, granola bars, etc.

We have a fridge so keeping things cold isn't a problem. When we didn't have a fridge we used an ice chest. Worked great (even the cheap styrofoam ones).

Personally I wouldn't want to go to all the trouble of making eggs, etc. in a microwave but again, I'm not that big of an early breakfast eater. At home we have cereal most of the time and in the winter oatmeal or Cream of Wheat. Lately we've been having English Muffins as DD asked me the other day "Why do we only have English Muffins when we are at WDW?" :rotfl:

The bread and pb&j are also great for making a quick sandwich for a carry along snack.

I think that about covers it. HTH.:goodvibes
